Church camp includes crafts, trips
The success of Kids' Club at Christ United Methodist Church in Laurel, resulted in the formation of Kids' Camp, initiated in July. Registration for the camp, which takes place in the church's Miracle House, quickly reached capacity of 36. Children in kindergarten through the sixth grade meet every Tuesday and Thursday and do crafts under the leadership of Bernice Brittingham, assisted by Betty Ringrose, Shirley Summers and Lucy Lutz. The Bible lessons and music are led by Janet Walker, assisted by Theresa Littleton and Wendy Wharton. Former nursery attendant Janet Smith leads the recreation and games. Most Wednesdays are all-day field trips, including swimming at Killens Pond, a rainy day at Assateague, the Delaware State Fair and the Salisbury Zoo. The activities and trips are all on the theme of God's creation and their theme song is "He's Got The Whole World In His Hands." The program runs for four weeks.
