Comcast Country Music Fest
It's Comcast Country Music Fest 2001! Delmarva welcomes country music blockbusters Montgomery Gentry and Ricochet for a night of high energy country music. Thursday, Aug. 23, at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium in Salisbury. The Comcast Country Music Fest is sponsored by Comcast Cable Television, Pepsi Cola of Delmarva, CAT Country and Froggy 99.9 and the Delmarva Shorebirds. Country Music Fest 2001 promises to be the event of the year. Tickets are $15 for stadium seating and $25 VIP, stage level. Chocolate Factory
Tickets for Possum Point Players Junior's production of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," are on sale. Performance dates are July 26, 27 and 28, at 7 p.m. and on July 29 at 2 p.m. Tickets for all shows are $5 each and may be reserved by calling the 24-hour ticketline at 302-856-4560.

Yard and bake sale July 27
The Nanticoke Senior Center is having a Yard and Bake Sale on Friday, July 27, from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Table rentals: $5-members, $10-non-members. Yard sale donations and baked goods are being accepted at the center. Call 629-4939.

Possums Summer Camp
Possum Point Players is taking applications for their 2001 Summer Children's Theatre Academy. The Academy will take place from July 30 to Aug. 3, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Possum Hall in Georgetown. Youth entering grades three through eight will be accepted. Tuition is $110 for the week and students are required to bring a bag lunch.
The Academy is organized to provide youth with basic theatrical training in order to provide the best experience for the kids, only 8 to 10 students in each grade will be accepted. According to Judy Dean, president of The Players, "Last year there was a long waiting list to get into the camp and we expect the same this year. I think the demand has to do with the quality of the program and the level of staff we have. I am pleased to announce that Ms. H. Barlow, will again direct the Academy this year." Dean continued, "Barlow has the ability to bring out the best in all people, but she is especially magical when it comes to our youth. This is going to be a great experience for our children."

Hitchens Family Reunion
The 46th annual Hitchens Family Reunion will be held Sunday, Aug. 5, at the Cypress Point Pavilion on the north side of Trap Pond State Park at 1:30 p.m., 1/2 hour later than previously. A buffet luncheon will be served. Fried chicken will be provided. Food committee will be the Linden Hitchens family. A short business meeting will follow.

Miller Family Reunion The 17th Reunion of the Samuel James Miller and Elizabeth Ellen Hastings Miller family will be held on Saturday, Aug. 11, at the St. George United Methodist Hall at noon. Town Fair contestants The Little Miss Towne & Country Fair Pageant will take place during the Fair on Saturday, Sept. 1, at the Governor Ross Plantation. The committee is now accepting applications for contestants. Contestants for the Little Miss Pageant must be between the ages of 4 and 7 years old on Aug. 29, 2001. Thanks to area businesses, it will be possible for all contestants to receive gifts in addition to the prizes awarded for first and second place. Trap Pond Fall Festival for senior citizens The annual Trap Pond Fall Festival, sponsored by Sussex County Senior Services, Inc./Cheer, will have a new feature this year with the "Shining Star Center" contest.
The Festival is held each year in September to give Sussex County seniors a chance to enjoy a picnic atmosphere at Delaware's first state park. Located east of Laurel, Trap Pond offers a relaxing day amidst its tall pine trees and a scenic view of the cypress trees in the pond. There will be assorted entertainment going on throughout the day and a delicious fried chicken lunch. There will also be several door prizes and gifts. This year's event will be held on Friday, Sept. 7.
