Laurel Fourth of July
The Laurel Chamber of Commerce is making plans for the 4th of July celebration. Red-White-and Blue will be the colors throughout town Friday, July 4.
The ninth annual Independence Day celebration will get off to a start with the traditional prayer breakfast at 8 a.m. along Broad Creek, catered by Emmings. Tickets, $10 each, are available only in advance through chamber board members.
The Red-White-and Blue Parade, featuring local entries and Uncle Sam, will start at 10:30 a.m.
The day will feature a 5K run and walk, games, art show, a local talent show, a moon bounce and water slide, Lollipop the clown, musical entertainment, a dunking booth, a car show, crafts and food. The event will end at dusk with a fireworks display.
Parade applications will be available at the library, chamber office and Laurel Fire Department. Line-up will begin at 8 a.m. at Evergreen and Oak. Application deadline is June 30. For more information contact Dean Culver at 875-3947.

The Laurel Chamber of Commerce sponsors the Independence Day Celebration. Vendor applications are available through the chamber office from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Laurel Library Doll
The Laurel Public Library is raffling a bridal doll donated by Laurel Councilwoman Terry Wright and Radiant Dolls to benefit the New Century Capital Campaign. The doll is on display at the library. Tickets are one chance for $1 or six chances for $5. The drawing for the doll will be held at noon on Monday, June 30, at the Laurel Public Library. You do not have to be present to win. All proceeds will benefit the building of the new Laurel Public Library.
Lewis Family will return
The Lewis Family will be making a return visit to Laurel on Thursday, July 17, at the Laurel Fire Hall on 10th Street. Show time is 7 p.m. Joining them in concert will be the Donny Murray Trio, featuring Donnie, Carol and Kelly.
Refreshments will be served and proceeds will go to the Laurel Fire Department Ladder Truck Fund. Tickets are available at O’Neal Brothers in Laurel, The Star office in Seaford or County Bank in Laurel or by calling 875-0764 or 629-9788.
Laurel School Library
Laurel Intermediate/Middle School Library will be offering summer library hours from noon to 2 p.m., Mondays-Thursdays. Come for summer reading, computers, and tutoring. For more information, contact Lesley Miller at 628-3461.
