Ducks Unlimited plan party
The Nanticoke chapter of Ducks Unlimited will hold its fourth annual Summer Party at the Ross Mansion, Seaford, on Saturday, June 22. The event begins at 4 p.m. and will feature refreshments, buffet, silent and live auctions and musical entertainment provided by “Bitter Creek” and “The Funsters” with special guests, “The Jack of Diamonds.” The event will be held rain or shine. Short reunion to be June 30
The family of Peter and Orpha Short will hold its annual reunion Sunday, June 30, beginning at noon at the Nutter Marvel Museum, South Bedford Street, Georgetown. A covered-dish lunch will begin at 1 p.m. Participants should bring a covered dish and drink. From 2 to 4 p.m. there will be bingo and outdoor games. A door prize will be given away at 4 p.m.

Adult Plus+ plans trips
The Adult Plus+ program at Delaware Technical & Community College, Owens Campus, Georgetown, is offering a variety of summer trips. Scheduled for July 9-17 is a trip to Connecticut, Maine, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island. A visit to the Florence Griswold Museum in Old Lyme, a performance of the “Anne of Green Gables” musical, and the chance to view a special collection of Wyeth paintings at the Farnsworth Museum are just a few of the options. The flora and fauna of the Pacific Northwest will be on display for a 10-day trip in August beginning on the 14th. From San Francisco, to Victoria, British Columbia, travelers can take in the glories of the west coast including the Oregon Sand Dunes, the Columbia River Gorge, and Mt. Hood. Players will hold auditions for ‘Streetcar’
Judy Dean, president of Possum Point Players, Georgetown, has announced that audition dates for Tennessee Williams’ classic play, “Streetcar Named Desire,” have been scheduled. “So many of us are excited about producing Tennessee Williams’ most recognizable story,” she said. “It had a very long run on Broadway, and many rank this tale as one of the greatest in American theatre.” Jim DeBastiani will be the director. He is looking for a cast of adults, six men, six women, including one Hispanic woman, one Hispanic man, and one African-American woman, plus four walk ons. “We are looking for a few jazz musicians, someone who can come in and help us set the tone for New Orleans, people who are interested in jamming with us,” said DeBastiani. Auditions are set for July 7, 2 p.m.; July 8, 7 p.m., and July 9, 7 p.m. “Actors, be prepared for cold readings of the script, musicians be prepared to jam,” DeBastiani said. Performances are scheduled for Sept. 13, 14, 15, 19, 20, 21 and 22. For details, call 856-3460.
Airport committee to meet
The next regular meeting of the Sussex County Airport Committee will be Wednesday, July 10, at the Sussex County Administrative Offices building (West Complex , Rt. 113), Georgetown, at 10 a.m. Included n the agenda will be a public information item for “Runway 4/22 Extension: Environmental Assessment, Feasibility Study, Master Plan update, and Airport Layout Plan update” conducted by Delta Airport Consultants. Lions golf tourney set
The fourth annual Seaford Lions Club Charity Golf Tournament will be held on Friday, Aug. 9. Proceeds will help support the club’s community projects such as providing eye exams and glasses and scholarships. The tournament will be held at the Seaford Golf and Country Club with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. The format will be a two-person, better ball of partners, with net and gross prizes. All golfers must have a valid U.S.G.A. handicap or play scratch. An entry fee of $75 per person will include: continental breakfast, golf cart, luncheon, golf shirt, golf balls, cash prizes and a chance to win a new car. The first place team for both net and gross will win $400 cash, second place will be $300, third place $200, and fourth place $150. Woodland Festival set
The Woodland Ferry Association continues to plan for its 10th annual Fall Festival and its annual golf tournament. The festival will be held in Woodland Saturday, Sept. 14. The golf tournament will be held at the Woodland Golf Park on Saturday, Sept. 28.
