Food, crafts and art vendors sought for July 4
The Laurel Chamber of Commerce is accepting applications for food, craft and art vendors for the Independence Day Celebration. The fee for food vendors is $100 ($50 for non-profit) and for craft vendors, $50 (non-profits $35). The festival will take place Wednesday, July 4, along Central Avenue and Broad Creek. Beginning at 8 a.m., the events will continue through the day until fireworks at dusk. For an application and further information call 875-9319 or write to the Laurel Chamber of Commerce, P.O. Chamber sponsoring house, business decorating contest
All home owners who want to participate in the house decorating contest for the July 4th celebration must register with the chamber office by Friday, June 29. All businesses within the town limits will be entered in the contest automatically. Any businesses outside the town limits that are interested in participating must register with the chamber. All businesses and residences will be judged on Tuesday, July 3. For details, call 875-9319. The chamber will need name, telephone number and address as well as directions to the home if it is out of town.

Volunteers still needed to help with celebration
Laurel's old-fashioned 4th of July Celebration is being planned. Volunteers are needed for a variety of jobs on July 3 and July 4. To volunteer, call Conrad at 875-9436. The chamber held a general membership meeting Thursday, June 7, at Britt's Dutch Inn. The speaker was state Rep. Biff Lee. 4th of July committee meetings are scheduled for Wednesdays, at 6 p.m., on June 20 and 27. Board of directors meetings will be held at 5:30 p.m. on July 2 and July 30. A 4th of July Celebration wrap-up meeting will be Wednesday, July 11, at 6 p.m.
