Kiwanis plans golf tourney
The Seaford Kiwanis Club will hold its 15th annual Foundation Golf Tournament Friday, June 15, at the Seaford Golf and Country Club. Proceeds will go to the club's foundation endowment which provides scholarships each year. The entry fee will include buffet lunch, golf fee, cart, hospitality cart, and awards party. Every participant will receive a bag of goodies and door prizes will be handed out. Awards up to $250 of merchandise, certificates for closest to the pin and straightest drive, plus a new car and other prizes will be given. The tourney is limited to the first 96 entrants. Model planes to take to air
The Sussex Aeromodeler's Club will hold an exhibition of radio-controlled model airplanes Saturday, June 16, 10 a.m. at the Hobby Stop, US 13, a quarter-mile north of Wal-Mart in Seaford. Members will be on hand to answer questions. Weather permitting, there will be demonstration helicopter flights and gifts for children.

Genealogy workshop set
The Delaware Public Archives is sponsoring a free, 30-minute online workshop for people interested in using the internet to search for their family history Saturday, June 16, and Saturday, June 23, at the archives, Dover. It will begin at 10 a.m. on both days. The archives is at 121 Duke of York Street in Dover. Reservations are required. Call 744-5047 for details.

Library friends to meet June 17
The annual meeting of the Friends of the Laurel Public Library will be Tuesday, June 17, 7 p.m. at the library. There will be a brief business meeting and refreshments will be served.

Senior center needs drivers
The Nanticoke Senior Center, Seaford, needs drivers and helpers to deliver meals to home-bound senior citizens on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10:30 a.m. to noon. For details, call the center at 629-4939, and ask for Cindy Dennis.

Flag Day to be honored
The Sussex County Veterans' Cemetery, Millsboro, will host its annual Flag Day activities which will include the Retiring of the Colors and a Military Honors ceremony Thursday, June 14, at 7 p.m. Worn and tattered American flags are being collected at the flag drop box at the cemetery. Members of the public may also take their old flags to the cemetery on the evening of the ceremony to ensure they are disposed of in a proper manner. The Retiring of the Colors ceremony will be conducted by American Legion Post #24 from Oak Orchard. Laurel American Legion Post #19 will post the colors. Among the dignitaries speaking will be William Jayne, director of states cemeteries, and Harriet Windsor, Delaware's Secretary of State.

Short reunion set for June 17
The 45th annual Peter and Orpha Short family reunion will be Sunday, June 17, at the Nutter Marvel Museum at 510 South Bedford St., Georgetown. A covered dish meal begins at 2 p.m. The museum will be open from noon until 2 p.m. for tours.

Photographers to meet
Delaware Professional Photographers Inc. will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 19, at the Dover Sheraton. James Hayes III and Mary Fisk-Taylor will present a program on wedding photography. For details, call 629-4396.

Legion to host flea market
American Legion Post 6, 230 Front St., Seaford, will sponsor a flea market and chicken barbecue Saturday, June 23, 7 a.m. til 1 p.m. Tables rent for $5. For details, call 629-9915. The barbecue will start at 11:30.
