Snethen United Methodist Church, Mardela Springs, Md., will host a social Saturday, June 10, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Featured will be oyster and chicken salad sandwiches, hamburgers and hot dogs and oyster and chicken salad platters. The church is on Delaware 54, 8 miles west of Delmar.

Vacation Bible school set
Centenary United Methodist Church in Laurel will host SonZone Discovery Center Vacation Bible School for children age 4 years through the sixth grade. Classes will be held the week of June 19 to 23 with a morning session from 9 to 11:45 a.m. and an evening session from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. To register, call Karen Tull, 628- 0444, or the church office, 875-3983.

Bishop to visit Christ U.M.C.
Christ United Methodist Church, Laurel, will celebrate 'Bishop Weaver's Day' Sunday, June 18, at 10:30 a.m.
Weaver is the Bishop of the Philadelphia area of the Methodist Church and will be the featured speaker. The celebration will include baptism, receiving new members, recognition of recent new members and dedication of the newly acquired 'Miracle House.' Elected in July 1996, Weaver was assigned to the Philadelphia Area of the United Methodist Church which includes 240,000 members and 1,000 churches in the Eastern Pennsylvania and Peninsula-Delaware Conferences.
The Rev. Sterling Green, superintendent in the Peninsula-Delaware Conference, will introduce Weaver. A native of Crisfield, Md., Green has served on two General Conference delegations and is completing his term as a member of the General Conference of the Status and Role of Women.
