Auction raises $25,000
The Nanticoke Health Services Auxiliary raised more than $25,000 Saturday evening during its 15th Annual Dinner and Auction. This year's event was held in the Seaford Golf & Country Club. Renee Morris, NHS public relations and development director, said the money raised at the auction will be included with the NHS Auxiliary's annual donation. Previous contributions by the auxiliary have helped to fund such activities as the Charity Prescription Fund, Daybreak Counseling (Kids in Conflict), and the NHS Foundation. Morris said as usual auctioneer Donald Moore provided excellent entertainment while performing as the live auctioneer. She said this also was the first year the auxiliary held a Chinese Auction in addition to the live and silent auctions. For this auction tickets were purchased and dropped into baskets in front of auction items. A random drawing determined the winner. Morris said the Chinese Auction was a great success. The Nanticoke Health Services Auxiliary is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. A three-tier cake in honor of this occasion was cut and shared for desert with the more than 150 auction goers. This year's auction committee was comprised of the following: Charlotte Cannon (chairperson), Ruth Adams, Lorraine Miller, Dennis O'Neal, Kelly Rodriquez, Jean Baldwin, Nancy Cook, Don Moore, Pat Olekszyk, Suzanne Smith, Nancy Brown, Dot Dixon, Renee Morris, Joan Policastro and Judi Thoroughgood. Silver sponsors of the auction were Joe Liefbroer of S.C. Johnson Polymer and Frank Anderson of Professional Leasing.
