Outdoor Gospel Sing and Memorial Day tribute
An Outdoor Gospel Sing and Memorial Day Tribute will be held Saturday, May 25, featuring local talent and groups. The program will be under the old tabernacle at the Victory Tabernacle Church of God, south of Blades on US 13A. There will be a flag raising ceremony at 1 p.m. The event is free of charge and will continue until 8 p.m. There will also be a concession stand. Bring a lawn chair and a friend and enjoy the day. Laurel Ruritan Chicken BBQ
The Laurel Ruritan Club will have a chicken BBQ on Saturday, May 25, from 10:30 a.m. till 2:30 p.m. at O’Neal’s Antiques, Rt. 13 Laurel. Cost is $5 per dinner. Proceeds to benefit Laurel Hope House.

Sunday Breakfast Buffet
An All-You-Can-Eat Sunday Breakfast Buffet will be served by the Galestown Ruritan Club on the 4th Sunday of each month October -May, 7-10 a.m., at the Galestown (Md.) Community Hall. This month it will be held May 26. Cost is $5 for adults, $3 children 6-12 years of age. The buffet features pancakes, eggs, scrapple, sausage, creamed chipped beef, biscuits, potato casserole, hominy, fruit cup, and sticky buns.
‘Pulling for the Sheriff’
Antique Tractor Pull and Auction will be held on Saturday, May 25, at Wilson’s Auction Sales on US 113 South of Lincoln. Come and stay all day; food will be available. Registration for the tractor pull begins at 8 a.m. and the Pull begins at 11 a.m. Classes for Antique, Open Modified, Super Modified and Pickup Trucks will compete for bragging rights and trophies. $15 per hook up. The Auction will begin at 1 p.m. Businesses and individuals are encouraged to support the SCSLF Inc. by donating items for the auction and attending the event. Businesses may contribute certificates for goods and services as well as actual items. Businesses will be recognized during the auction. Please label donated items with the name of business. Individuals may contribute items in good condition, excluding clothes and large appliances. Donated items are being stored at Wilson’s Auction. To arrange drop off or pick up call Jeff at 349-9379. Sussex County Sheriff’s Legal Fund, Inc. is a 501 c (4) organization. Individual contributions are not tax deductible as a personal exemption. Businesses are reminded to check IRS rules regarding advertising deductions.

Three Little Bakers May 29
Nanticoke Senior Center is hosting a trip to “Singin’ in the Rain” at the Three Little Bakers Dinner Theatre in Wilmington, on Wednesday, May 29, at 3 p.m. Tickets include admission, dinner and motor coach transportation. Cost: members, $50; non-members: $60. Call the center at 629-4939 for reservations.

Archaeology discussion
Archaeology is the subject of the program being presented at the Methodist Manor House on Middleford Road, Seaford, on Friday, May 31, at 7 p.m. Michael Ciosek of Wilmington will be the speaker. He is the co-founder and president of the Friends of Brandywine Springs. He will talk about the history and archaeological efforts at that site (1886-1923) and the Kutzenjammer Fun House (1907-1923). He will show slides and display artifacts, coins, early electrical fixtures and pottery found during the digs. The public is invited. There is no charge.
