Delmar Event to Help Children
In Delmar on Saturday, May 22, at 9 a.m. Food Lion employees and community people will be selling barbecue chicken, hamburgers, hotdogs and offering platters to go. There will be craft booths, live music, silent and live auctions, games and face painting. All funds will benefit Johns Hopkins Children Hospital.

Delmar Day in the Park
Greater Delmar Chamber of Commerce 28th Annual Day in the Park Festival on Saturday, June 5, from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. at the State Street Park in Delmar. There will be many craft vendors, along with several other vendors from businesses, churches, etc. Several food vendors will be present offering such food items as oyster fritters, hamburgers, hotdogs, pit beef, turkey, ham, funnel cakes, french fries, and ice cream. Events such as face painting, raffles, 50/50, kiddie express ride, moon bounce, give-a-ways, game booths, fire engine rides, live music and more.

Delmar Alumni Trip
Delmar Alumni Association is sponsoring a trip to Three Little Bakers to see “Damn Yankees,” Wednesday, Sept. 15. Bus leaves VFW at 3:30 p.m., $52 per person. For information or reservations call 846-2272 by June 1.

English teacher names her students of the month
Students of the month for March and April in Juley Harper’s eighth-grade English language arts class at Delmar Middle School are selected from the 161 eighth graders in the school. Students in Harper’s classes earn passes on the basis of academic achievement and merit. If a student’s pass is drawn that month, he or she has the opportunity to be named student of the month. The students can only win if they have not had any discipline problems or referrals. March Students of the Month are, red group - Maria Brown, yellow group - April Lynch, orange group - Dominique Conquest, green group - Taylor Ballard, blue group - Jared Rittenhouse, violet group - Joe Pete. April students of the month are, red group - Hannah Manchin, yellow group - Bryan Young, orange group - Billy Cropper, green group - Marley MacDonald, blue group - Patrick Beale, violet group - Sequoia Johnson.

Mark your calendars for the next big event in Delmar. Delmar Day In The Park will be Saturday, June 5, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., at the State Street Park. This is always a fun day for our community with lots of good food, fun and activities for all to enjoy.

Tish Fisher, who had heart surgery in Houston, Texas, on March 26, came home Saturday, May 15. Tish, we’re happy that you’re home and we send our prayers for a speedy recovery.

My husband, Mike, and I attended a colic clinic seminar for horses on Saturday, in Dover, presented by Dr. David Marshall. It was very informational and it was well worth the travel to Dover.
