Harvest Christian auction, sale
Harvest Christian Church is raising money to send a team to Turkey on a mission trip. There will be a silent auction on Friday, May 21, from 7-9 p.m., and continuing on Saturday. Hourly door prizes. Also a yard sale on May 22 from 7 a.m.-3 p.m. Harvest Christian is located on Ockels Drive, just off US 13A, south of Seaford.

Memorial Day Picnic
Seaford Church of the Nazarene had their second planning session, for an old time Memorial Day picnic. There will be games for all ages, with prizes to the winners. There will be food, music and a hymn sing. The picnic will be on Memorial Day, May 31, at 10 a.m. at the church grounds, located on US 13 south next to the Guide. Rain date is Saturday, June 5.

Citywide worship at Mt. Olivet
There will be a citywide worship gathering at Mount Olivet United Methodist Church on Thursday, May 20, at 7 p.m. The event is sponsored by the Delaware Strategic Prayer Network in an effort to promote revival and unity. Every town will hold a worship meeting before May 22. The blitz will end on that date with a drive-through caravan of praise traveling from Delmar to Wilmington.

Our Lady of Lourdes Church
Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, 532 Stein Highway, Seaford, is celebrating the good works of parishioners involved in church ministries. There are more than 25 ministries supported through Our Lady of Lourdes parish. These include prayer groups, support groups, outreach to the poor and elderly, and daily operations of the parish. There is an Hispanic community who celebrate Mass in Spanish on Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. All Roman Catholics and those interested in the faith are invited to one of the Masses and afterwards in the parish hall. The celebration will be held after the Masses during the weekend of May 22 and 23.

Annual Women’s Day
Annual Women’s Day will be held on Sunday, May 23, at 11 a.m. at New Zion United Methodist Church, Laurel, with the Rev. Carol Sessoms Hopkins, the church pastor, as the messenger. Dinner will be served at 2 p.m. The Rev. Nadine Henry of Mt. Pisgah A.M.E. Church, the choir and congregation will worship with the New Zion Church at 3:30 p.m.

Old Christ Church service
Continuing a tradition going back over 200 years, St. Philip’s Episcopal Church, Laurel, Delaware, will hold a communion service at 10 a.m. on Sunday, May 23, at Old Christ Church. Located off Rt. 24, one mile east of U.S. Rt. 13 at Laurel, Old Christ Church sits on the banks of Chipman’s Pond, where it was constructed in 1771-1772 when this area was still part of Maryland. It served as an active facility until the mid-19th century, when off-shoot chapels were established in the nearby towns of Bridgeville, Seaford, Delmar, and Laurel. It is today owned by its successor, St. Philip’s. Said to be one of only about a dozen churches along the Atlantic Coast to survive unaltered from America’'s pre-Revolutionary period, Old Christ Church is known for its pristine interior and the fact that it has never been plumbed, heated, electrified, or painted. The congregation of St. Philip’s invites the general public to join us at 10 a.m. on May 23. The officiant will be the Rev. Laurence Miller, and light refreshments will be served afterward in the church yard.

Concert at St. Paul’s
The southern gospel group Precious Memories Gospel Band will be in concert at the St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Laurel on Sunday, May 23, at 7 p.m. St. Paul’s is located on Old Stage Road, near Hearns Crossroads. For more information call 856-6107.

UTO Sunday at St. Luke’s
Sunday, May 23, is the United Thank Offering (UTO) Ingathering at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Seaford. The UTO invites people to offer daily prayers of thanksgiving to God and to offer outward and visible signs of those prayers that will benefit others. The power of the UTO blue box is unlimited. It has built churches, fed the hungry, clothed the poor, provided shelter for the homeless, supported many other outreach programs throughout the Episcopal Church. Gift items for Stockley Center residents are still being collected in the church narthex. Suggested are gift certificates for fast food, bowling, ice cream, and department stores.
‘Lights of Home’ Concert
A musical concert will be held on Sunday, May 23, at 7 p.m., at Portsville United Methodist Church, Portsville, featuring “The Lights of Home” from Laurel. For more information call 875-2315.

New Zion block party
The Sunday School of New Zion United Methodist Church in Laurel is sponsoring it’s first “Balling for God” basketball tournament and block party on Saturday, June 5, on Webb Avenue in west Laurel from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be games, vendors, exhibits and music. The basketball tournament will consist of teams of four. The age brackets are 13-15 and 16-20. The cost per team is $8. Trophies will be presented to the winning teams. The Singing Disciples
The Singing Disciples of Warshaw and Montross, Va., will be in concert at Mt. Calvary United Methodist Church, 28 Church St., Bridgeville, on Sunday, May 23, at 3:30 p.m. The event is sponsored by Sister Olivia Blackwell, 337-7019. A free will offering will be taken. The Rev. Purnell A. Moody is the pastor.

River of Life hosting evangelist
The River of Life Christian Center in Greenwood will host evangelist Nick Kinn from Brooklyn Park, Minn., June 11 and 12. He will speak on Friday, June 11, at 7 p.m. and have a workshop on Saturday, June 12, from 1-4 p.m. He will lead the worship service on Sunday, June 13, at 11 a.m. The center is located at 17 West Market Street in Greenwood. St. John’s bus trip to see ‘Noah’
St. John’s United Methodist Church is sponsoring a bus trip to “Sight and Sound” in Strausburg, Pa. on Thursday, July 15. The cost is $54. The show “Noah” starts at 1 p.m. with dinner at 4 p.m. Call Ruth Rhoades at 629-9466.

Christ Church Baseball Trip
Christ United Methodist Church, 510 S. Central Ave., Laurel, is sponsoring a trip to see the Phillies play the Atlanta Braves, Friday night, July 9, at 7 p.m. The cost is $35 which includes the cost of a chartered bus. Part of the ticket price goes to support youth ministries. Call 875-4233.

Derwin War, God Chaser
Appearing at Christ Evangelistic Church in Laurel, Derwin Ward, worship leader for Tommy Tenney & the God Chasers, will teach Saturday, June 12, at 7 p.m. and Sunday June 13, at 11 a.m., and then again at 7 p.m. His teachings will guide us through the steps of pure and intimate worship. Derwin is not only the worship leader for Tommy Tenney’s ministry but he is also leading worship at the Living Stones Church in Alvin, Texas. He has made many appearances on the TBN Network PTL. He and his wife Terri have two daughters and have been in full-time ministry for 23 years. They have traveled to more than 20 nations leading worship and preaching the Gospel.
