Delmar Event to Help Children
In Delmar on Saturday, May 22, at 9 a.m. Food Lion employees and community people will be selling barbecue chicken, hamburgers, hotdogs and offering platters to go. There will be craft booths, live music, silent and live auctions, games and face painting. All funds will benefit Johns Hopkins Children Hospital.

BayShore Spring Ride is starting at Church of God
The Bridgeville to Bay Shore Spring Ride (motorcycles) to benefit the Sussex Pregnancy Care Center will take place on Saturday, May 22, starting at the Bridgeville Church of God, located on Rt. 404 one mile west of Bridgeville, at 10 a.m. The cost is $10. The ride will continue on to Bay Shore Community Church in Gumboro where there will be live music and food provided. Maps will be provided. Biker rally on May 23 to benefit local youth groups
The Horsey Family Youth Foundation and area veterans are sponsoring a biker rally on Sunday, May 23, at the Seaford VFW Post on Middleford Road from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. The rain date is Saturday, May 29. Proceeds will benefit youth sports programs. The schedule includes the following: an ABATE swap meet; DJ Mike Mason, 9 a.m. to noon; band Strip Search, 1 to 6 p.m.; ride in bike show, vendors, dunking booth, trophies, door prizes, 93.5 live remote from noon to 1 p.m.; and a ladies auxiliary food concession.
The cost is $15 a person which includes one free raffle ticket for the Nov. 6 drawing for one of two custom motorcycles - a 2004 Hellbound Steel Custom Bike, “The Brimstone,” or “The Wicked” (www.winamotorcycle.us). The event is sponsored by David G. Horsey & Sons, Inc. of Laurel.
Poker Run Benefit in Laurel
Muskrat Memorial Poker Run, Saturday, May 29, with proceeds to benefit a college fund set up for the children of Mike and Beverly Gray. Mike Gray was killed in a motorcycle accident last year and friends and fellow motorcyclists are coordinating the event. Registration is $8 and includes a reception after the event with music, door prizes and barbecue at Castaways Lounge, U.S. 13, in Laurel. Sign up for the event is from 8 a.m. to noon at Castaways Lounge. Non-riders are also invited to attend with $5 per platter fee. Rain date is June 5.

Greenwood Spring Festival
The Greenwood Mennonite School (GMS) is celebrating its 76th anniversary this year, and the return of the Greenwood Spring Festival, Saturday, June 5, beginning with breakfast from 7 to 9 a.m., a 5K run/walk, auction, sports tournaments, food booths, petting zoo, children’s games, entertainment and more. The school is located just off routes 16 and 36, east of Greenwood. The festival and parking are free.

Yacht Club Fishing Derby
Nanticoke River Yacht Club along with Wal-Mart will host a youth fishing derby from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, June 19. Pre-registration is two weeks prior on Saturday, June 5, at the Wal-Mart parking lot. A parent or guardian must accompany all children four to 14. Numerous prizes will be available in all categories. The fishing will be at the Seaford river bulkhead and the casting derby, snacks and awards will be made at the Yacht Club before noon. Three Little Bakers
The Seaford Department of Parks and Recreation will be hosting a trip to the Three Little Bakers Dinner Theatre in Wilmington on Sunday, May 16, cost $57.95. Since 1972, the Three Little Bakers have provided an entertainment package with superb dining and fantastic Broadway shows and celebrity events. Washington Zoo Trip
The Seaford Department of Parks and Recreation trip to National Zoo, Washington, D.C., planned for June 12, cost $14 per person.See exotic animals such as panda bears, cheetahs, apes, lions, elephants, as well as many others. Attend a demonstration such as fish feeding or stork feeding. You may pack a lunch or eat in one of the park’s many cafes. We will depart from the back high school parking lot at 8 a.m. and will leave the zoo at 4 p.m. to return to Seaford. The deadline to sign up is May 28.
