Blades UMC trip planned
The Blades Untied Methodist Church is sponsoring a cruise to the Eastern Caribbean as a fund-raiser. Participants will sail on Jan. 20, 2001, for a one-week trip on the S.S. Norway, stopping at St. Maarten, St. John, St. Thomas and Great Stirrup Cay.

Buffet to feature chicken
A fried chicken buffet will be held Saturday, May 20, at Bethany Church, Lowes Crossroads near Millsboro.
Cost for adults and carryouts is $7.50 and for children, $3. Serving will be from 2 till 6 p.m.
A bake table will be available.

Workshop to focus on scouting
The Catholic Committee on Scouting for the Diocese of Wilmington will provide a workshop about Scouting in the Catholic Church Saturday, May 20, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at St. Christopher's Roman Catholic Church on Kent Island, Md. There is a registration fee of $3, and lunch will be provided.

Woodland women plan dinner
The Woodland United Methodist Women will hold a chicken and dumpling dinner Saturday, May 20, in the Woodland United Methodist Church fellowship hall. Dinner will begin at 6 p.m.
Cost for adults is $7, for kids ages 6-12 $4. Children under 6 are admitted free.

It's vacation Bible school time
Centenary United Methodist Church in Laurel will host SonZone Discovery Center Vacation Bible School this summer. Registration for will be May 20, from 10 a.m. to noon, at the Market Square Town Park on Central Avenue.
Children from 4 years old through the sixth grade are welcome. Registration forms can also be picked up at the church.
Bible school will be held the week of June 19 through 23 with a morning session from 9 to 11:45 a.m. and an evening session from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
New organ to be featured
On Sunday, May 21, at 4 p.m., in St. Philip's Episcopal Church, South Central Ave., Laurel, Taylor Harvey, organist and musical director of Asbury United Methodist Church, Salisbury, will present a recital on the new Rodgers organ recently installed at St. Philip's.
Harvey is one of the most accomplished organists in the area and is very well acquainted with the power and flexibility of this organ.

Starr to be speaker
The 25th annual Mayor's Prayer Breakfast hosted by Salisbury Mayor Barrie Parsons Tilghman will be May 25 at the Wicomico Youth and Civic Center. The speaker will be Kenneth W. Starr. Kellye Cash Sheppard, Miss America 1987, will sing.

Mt. Zion plans festival
Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Laurel-Seaford Highway, 13A, will host a festival on Saturday, May 27, starting at 3 p.m.
Foods will include homemade ice cream, cakes and pies, oyster sandwiches and platters, hamburgers and hot dogs, chicken salad and drinks.
Carry-outs will be available.

Ministry goes to cafe
This month's Vertical Connection - All About You Cafe will feature the music of Wes Davis on Friday, May 19, from 7 to 10 p.m.
All About You Cafe is a Christian coffeehouse for young adults age 18 to 25.
The coffeehouse features live music and meets on the third Friday of the month at Travel Perks, in Laureltown on Front Street in Laurel.

Annual strawberry fest set
Blades United Methodist Church will sponsor a strawberry festival Saturday, May 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Blades Park, East 7th Street. Foods featured will be: homemade ice cream, hamburgers, hot dogs, crab cakes, drinks, French fries and baked goods. There will be games, entertainment, carriage rides,and door prizes. In case of rain the festival will be held in the community house on West 4th Street.
