Prayer Breakfast proceeds to benefit Seaford Mission
The Greater Seaford Chamber of Commerce, Seaford Historical Society, Seaford Ministerium and the Seaford Kiwanis are holding a Prayer Breakfast at the Towne & Country Fair on Saturday, May 21, beginning at 8 a.m. The Prayer Breakfast will be held in a tent on the grounds of the Governor Ross Plantation, North Pine Street Extended, Seaford. A limited number of tickets are available at $10 each. The breakfast is being catered by Jimmy's Grille. To obtain tickets to the prayer breakfast contact Bryant Richardson at Morning Star Publications, 629-9788, or visit the office of Morning Star Publications at 628 West Stein Highway, Seaford. Pastors from area churches will offer prayers for our schools, families, businesses, governments and communities. Representatives from a number of area churches will form a choir that will help emphasize the desire of the planners to promote unity. All the money netted from the Prayer Breakfast will be donated to the Seaford Mission. Morning Star Publications will match the proceeds up to $500. A Day of Reflection May 14
A day of quiet reflection will be held at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, State and Ellis streets in Millsboro, on Saturday, May 14. The Rev. Rod Welles will be the presenter and his topic is "Say What?! Paul's Story." This is the fourth in a series of days of quiet reflection on the theme "God's CallÉOur Choice." All are welcome. Bring a journal and a brown bag lunch. Beverages are provided. The day begins at 9:30 a.m. and ends at 3 p.m. Call 934-9464.

Mt. Calvary fund raising
There will be a Home Interior fund-raising party on Saturday, May 14, at Mt. Calvary United Methodist Church in the fellowship hall, 28 Church St., Bridgeville, starting at 2 p.m. Proceeds from this event will help to install a new handicap ramp at the church. Celebration of America
"America the Beautiful" will take place at Christ Evangelistic Church in Laurel on Friday, May 20, from 7 to 10 p.m. The Olde Time Gospel Singers, King's Ambassadors and others will perform. The guest speaker will be Lt. Col. Kenny Cox, who was working at the Pentagon during the attack on Sept. 11. The Rev. Leon Brunner is the host of the event. All are welcome. Contact the Rev. Wesley UMC yard sale
Wesley United Methodist Church, Atlanta Road, Seaford, will be having a yard sale on Saturday, May 14, on the church grounds. Rain date is May 21. The time will be from 7 a.m. to noon. Spaces are 10 ft. wide and 20 ft. deep. (One vehicle per space). The cost of a space is $10. Provide your own table or rent one for $7 (while they last). Biker Sunday at Bayshore
Biker Sunday will take place on May 15 at the Bayshore Community Church in Gumboro at the 11 a.m. service. Arrive early to register for door prizes. All motorcycles are welcome with special bike parking. Lunch will be provided: hot fresh open pit beef sandwiches, corn on the cob, baked beans and hot dogs. New Zion block party
The Sunday School of new Zion United Methodist Church in Laurel is sponsoring its second annual "Balling for God" basketball tournament and block party on Saturday, June 11, on Webb Avenue in west Laurel from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. This year's block party and tournament are dedicated to the memory of the victims of the April 7 shooting rampage that began in Laurel. There will be games, vendors and community awareness exhibits. The basketball tournament will consist of teams of four. The age brackets are 9-11, 12-14, and 15-18. The cost per team is $8. Shelton in concert
Thomas Shelton will be in concert on Sunday, May 15, at 10:30 a.m., at Christian Church of Seaford, U.S. 13 north. An Indiana native, Shelton was raised in a devout Christian home. In 1977, he was inducted into "Who's Who in Musicians in America." In June of that same year, he joined the touring group, "General Delivery U.S.A." Since then he has traveled as lead singer for the "Gospelites" of Dobbins, Calif., as well as the tenor with the "Watchmen" of Operation Evangelize. He and his wife, Shannon, spent two years in the Caribbean and South America as cruise directors for New Creation World Wide Christian Cruises. He has served in four separate congregations in the development of music and youth programs. His ministry has taken him to all 50 states of the U.S. as well as 11 other countries.
Latin Mass May 15
A Latin Mass according to the Missal of 1962 is celebrated on the third Sunday of every month at 3 p.m. at Holy Cross Church in Dover. The next mass will be celebrated on May 15. The mass is always a Missa Cantata using traditional Gregorian chant. For further information, call (302) 674-5781.

Gospel music in Bethel
An evening of Gospel Music on Sunday, May 15, starting at 6 p.m.with a dessert reception and singing at 6:30 p.m., will take place at Bethel United Methodist Church, west of Seaford near Oak Grove. The Sounds of Joy and The Gospel Gents will perform.

St. Luke's celebrates
St. Luke's Episcopal Church (Seaford) members will celebrate the Day of Pentecost, May 15, at the 10:15 a.m., by wearing red signifying the Tongues of Fire and Flames of the Holy Spirit. This day gives us an opportunity to reflect on the purpose and existence of the church. The doors of St. Luke's are open to all. Also on this day of celebration the graduates of EFM (Education For Ministry), a four-year study program of theology and reflection for lay ministry will be recognized. Pentecost Sunday
New Life the Apostolic Church in Salisbury is hosting a special service on Pentecost Sunday, which is celebrated 50 days after Christ is risen. On May 15 New Life will have a service at 6 p.m. The New Life Mass Choir will sing and the Rev. Mark Johnston of Wilmington will be the guest speaker. New Life is located at 31193 Mt. 'Reunion' at St. Paul's
The popular southern gospel group, "Reunion," will be in concert at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, on Saturday, May 21, at 7 p.m. St. Paul's is located on Old Stage Road in Laurel, just east of US 13. The program is open to all with no admission, but a free will offering will be taken. For details call 856-6107.

Gospel Music benefit
There will be an afternoon of Gospel Music at the Blades Fire Hall to benefit the Rev. James Carmean on Sunday, May 22, at 2 p.m. A free will offering will be taken to help with his medical expenses. Featured singers include Wayne Gober, comedian/singer, Mary Ann and the Lights of Home, Sounds of Joy, Precious Memories Gospel Band and Don Murray Family. Refreshments will be available.

Steward's Day
Sunday, May 15 is the annual Steward's Day, at 3 p.m., at Mt. Calvary A.M.E. Church, Concord. The messenger will be Dr. Janeal Starling of St. Paul United Methodist Church, Milford. She will be accompanied by her choir and congregation. The event is sponsored by the steward board. The chairperson is Cynthia Kilgo and the pastor is the Rev. Idola J. Williams.

Music ministry
Greenwood and Todd's Chapel United Methodist churches will host evangelist John Hobbs and the music ministry of Kenny Davis beginning on Sunday, May 15, through Wednesday, May 18. These special services will begin at 7 p.m. each night at Greenwood United Methodist Church in Greenwood. A love offering will be taken at each service. For further information call 349-4047.

Paul & Susie
Paul and Susie Luchsinger (sister of Reba McEntire) will perform at Christ Evangelistic Church in Laurel on Sunday, May 15, at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. Susie Luchsinger will sing her hits that have made her one of the top country gospel singers in the country.
