Trinity birthday coming up
Trinity United Methodist Church, near Laurel, will celebrate its 130th anniversary with a day of special events Sunday, May 18. Since 1873, the congregation has been an active part of the community. Services begin at 3 p.m. with a concert by The Taylor Family, formerly of Salisbury, Md. The concert will be followed by the dedication of an historical marker at 4 p.m. The day will conclude with a traditional homecoming service at 4:30 p.m., with the Rev. Harold A. Bolyard Jr., former pastor, preaching. That will be followed by a supper in the newly named Rev. Lee Elliott Memorial Hall. Children to lead service
Children will lead the 11 a.m. worship service on Mother’s Day, May 11, at Christ Lutheran Church, Seaford. The service will include drama, liturgical dance, singing and puppets. The church is on the corner of Shipley and Spruce streets. Contact Amy Brown, 629-9755, for more information. The Bible School for Special People will lead the worship service Sunday, May 18, 11 a.m. The program meets every Saturday, 10 a.m., for people with developmental disabilities. The class has over 40 students who are involved in weekly Bible study, worship and other activities which help them learn more about God’s love. Prayer breakfast planned
The Bridgeville community prayer breakfast, sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Bridgeville, will be Saturday, May 10, 8 a.m., at the Bridgeville Church of God, Seashore Highway. Church to celebrate spring
Dagsboro Church of God will hold a spring celebration, featuring a live auction, car wash, barbequed chicken lunches and baked goods, Saturday, May 10, 10 a.m. till 3 p.m. The church is on US 113, Dagsboro. For details, call 732-6550.

Joy Night, twice a month
New Zion United Methodist Church holds Joy Night the second and fourth Friday of every month, 7 p.m. This month it will be May 9 and 23. Lady of Lourdes plans fair
A May Fair at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Stein Highway, Seaford, will be Saturday, May 10, 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. There will be attic treasures, clothing, linens, books, furniture, plants, games and toys. Baked goods will be for sale. Food will be available throughout the fair. A raffle for money will be at 1 p.m.
Workshop on lying set
Daniel Cherneski, a Florida-licensed marriage and family therapist who has 15 years of experience treating adolescents and their families, will present a workshop, “Learn To Be a Liebuster,” at River of Life Christian Center, 17 West Market St., Greenwood, Saturday, May 10, 1 p.m. In Florida, Cherneski appeared on local television and national radio programs discussing teen and family issues. He is an advocate for in-home therapy interventions. After moving to Delaware in 1993, Cherneski and his wife Barbara are counselors at Calvary Chapel, Chester Springs, Pa. Prayer garden to open
Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church will consecrate phase I of its new public prayer garden Sunday, May 18, at 1 p.m. The church is located across from Bon Appetit, High Street, Seaford.

Memorial Day to be honored
Victory Tabernacle Church of God, Laurel, will hold its second annual Memorial Day Tribute Saturday, May 24, 1 p.m. Local singing groups will perform throughout the day. An area will be set up for anyone wishing to display memorials. The church is 2 and 1/4 miles north of Laurel on alternate US 13. Two services planned
A service for the Voices of the Hill Gospel Choir will be at the Church of the Nazarene, Houston Branch Road, Federalsburg, Md. (down past Maryland Plastics), Saturday, May 10, at 7 p.m. A service for the Silver Tones of Annapolis, Md., will be held at the same church Saturday, May 17, at 7 p.m. For information call 410-754-9135.

Church to serve fried chicken
Bethany Church at Lowes Crossroads near Millsboro will hold a fried chicken buffet Saturday, May 17, from 2 to 6 p.m. Price for adults and for carry-outs is $8.50; price for children is $4. A baked-goods table will be set up.

Jones Family to perform
A hymn sing will be held at Bethel Methodist Church, Bethel, Sunday, May 18, at 7p.m. The Jones Family will be featured.

Traditional Latin mass planned
A Latin mass according to the Missal of 1962 is celebrated on the third Sunday of every month at 3 p.m. at Holy Cross Church in Dover. This month’s mass will be celebrated on May 18.
