The Friends of the Delmar Public Library will hold a book and bake sale Saturday, May 15, 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Hayman Room of the library. There will be lots of books (at great prices) and plenty of delicious treats. All the money will pay for programs and materials. The library is on alternate US 13, across from the Delmar Fire Department.

Wishes for a speedy recovery to Laura Hudson, who had a fall at home and is a patient at Peninsula Regional Medical Center, Room 5141, 100 E. Carroll Street, Salisbury, MD 21801.

Al Krewatch will celebrate his 100th birthday on May 22. He lives at the Methodist Manor House in Seaford. Make his day a very special one by sending a card. I was told he has a excellent memory and is in good health. That is amazing!

The Delmar High School Math League Team of Mark DeMorra, Brooks Dorsey, Josh Griffin, Christian McDowell and Roy Willey represented Delmar at the state meet. Scott Johnson and Jose Vasquez were also members of the team.

Candance Esham placed third in prepared public speaking at the state FFA convention.

Winners in the 2004 Art World Competition were, first place - Damion Miles, Brennan Ralph and Chris Justis; second place - Heather Malinger, Randie Hovatter and Alison Pittman; third place - Alberto Calixto and Rebecca Mir.

Kristi Whitlock received the Editor’s Choice Award for Outstanding Poetry from the International Library of Poetry for her poem, “Arms of the Ocean.”

Darren Collins finished fourth in the wrestling regionals and is headed to the national wrestling tournament at Penn State.

The team of Cody Collins, Justin Gillette, Josh Zidanic and John Figuerroa successfully defended their title in the Hoops for Delmar basketball tournament. Other awards given out were, most valuable player - Justin Gillette; most improved - Cody Collins; and best sportsmanship - George White.

Eighth-grade English students of the month are - Maria Brown, April Lynch, Dominque Conquest, Taylor Ballard, Jared Rittenhouse and Joe Pete.

Spanish students of the month are - Mick Tindall, Munnay Sharp, Danielle Disharoon and Jessica Thomas.
Delmar Event to Help Children
In Delmar on Saturday, May 22, at 9 a.m. Food Lion employees and community people will be selling barbecue chicken, hamburgers, hotdogs and offering platters to go. There will be craft booths, live music, silent and live auctions, games and face painting. All funds will benefit Johns Hopkins Children Hospital.
