Blades Elementary PTO
Blades Elementary School PTO benefit, Tuesday, May 17, at Friendly’s in Seaford, U.S. 13, 5 to 8 p.m. The restaurant will donate 10 percent of proceeds to the PTO during that time period. No coupons can be used for dinner.

Delmar PTA Event

Del Tech Information Night
Thursday, May 12, “Get the Scoop - Learn About College” information night and open house, 6-8 p.m., at Delaware Technical & Community College, Owens Campus, Rt. 18, Georgetown. Meet faculty/staff, view exhibits, tour campus. Learn about all aspects of college life. Attend mini-workshops about financial aid and mastering college life. Free to students and parents. Shuttle buses will be available for transportation around campus.


Dinner at Centenary Church

Marine Corps League
The Marine Corps League meets the first Thursday of each month, at 7:30 p.m. at the Log Cabin in Seaford (May 5). There will be a discussion of the passing of former judge advocate John E. Gibbons. The group presented a folded flag to the family at a formal grave-side ceremony.

NHS Auxiliary Meeting
Nanticoke Health Services Auxiliary meeting, Wednesday, May 11, at Seaford Golf and Country Club, 9:30 a.m., cost $3. Speakers: Sandra Carson, 2004 recipient of NHS Auxiliary scholarship, and Lucinda Mancuso, NHS nutritionist - topic: “New Recommendations for Healthy Eating.” Reservations due May 6. Callers will be contacting members.

Acorn Club Banquet
GFWC-Acorn Club’s annual banquet will be at the Eastern Star Building on Thursday, May 12, with social time starting at 6 p.m. The hostesses for this event are Phyllis Nelson and Joyce Whaley.

Coast Guard Auxiliary
Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 12-04 meeting at Nanticoke Yacht Club in Blades, Thursday, May 12, at 7:30 p.m. Anyone interested in promoting safe boating and would like to work with men and women who do vessel inspections, safety patrols and teach public safety courses, are welcome to join the Flotilla. WomenNetworking Event
WomenNetworking in Southern Delaware, Inc. will hold its annual breakfast meeting and recognition ceremony on Saturday, June 11, 9:30 a.m. in Georgetown, location to be announced. WomenNetworking members, honorary members, and all those interested in becoming members are welcome to attend.  Membership in WNSD cost $25 annually for an individual and $100 for an organization.


Fitness Classes Starting in May
Fitness classes started up the first week of May at St.John’s U.M.C. Fellowship Hall in Seaford (sponsored by St. John’s but open to the public), Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 9 a.m. (a.m. only, free child-care) and Tuesday and Thursday, 5:30 p.m. Beginners to intermediate participants welcome in this co-ed, non-competitive, muscle-toning, stretching, high/low aerobic class. National Day of Prayer

FOP Basket Bingo May 5

Gethsemane Flower Fair
Gethsemane United Methodist Church’s 6th annual Flower Fair, Saturday, May 7, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Available will be hanging baskets, bedding plants, geraniums, vegetable plants, herbs, bushes, etc. Hotdogs, drinks, homemade ice cream and a bake sale. Free blood pressure check from 9-11 a.m. All proceeds will go toward the Gethsemane youth ministry. Gethsemane U.M.C. is located on Stein Highway, four miles west of Seaford.

Trip to See Phillies
