Talks planned on archaeology
In celebration of Delaware Archaeology Month, the Methodist Manor House, the Seaford District Library and the Seaford Historical Society are sponsoring a series of talks on archaeology.
On May 8 at 7 p.m., Daniel R. Griffith, director of the Division of Historical and Cultural Affairs, will speak on American Indian Sites Archaeology.
On May 15 at 7 p.m., Charles H. Fithian, curator of archaeology with Delaware State Museums, will speak on life on the Delaware frontier: current research in early colonial Delaware.
Both talks will be held at the Methodist Manor House, 1001 Middleford Road, Seaford. Admission is free. For details, call Aileen Watkins, (302) 629-4593.

Jazz band to play tonight
The second in Seaford Main Street's 2000 Concerts in the Park series will be Thursday, May 4. The Seaford High School Jazz Band will perform in Gateway Park, beginning at 7 p.m.
There is no charge.

Geraniums pickup is Saturday
Geraniums ordered to benefit the American Association of University Women (AAUW) scholarship program may be picked up and paid for at the West Seaford School parking lot on Saturday, May 6, between 9 and 11 a.m. Any orders not picked up by 11 a.m. will be offered for sale to the public.

Mother's Day dinner May 14
The Knights of Columbus will sponsor an all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner on Sunday, May 14, Mother's Day, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church parish hall, Stein Highway, Seaford.
All proceeds will benefit Our Lady of Lourdes Youth Group. Seatings will be at 4 p.m., 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. Take-outs will be available.
Cost is $6 for adults and $4 for children 4-12 years. Children under 3 are admitted free.
A cash bar serving beer and wine will be open. To order tickets, call 629-7999.

Acorn Club plans dinner
The GFWC Acorn Club will hold its annual spring dinner Thursday, May 11, 6 p.m., at the Seaford Golf and Country Club. Mikki Madden, daughter of club member Mabel Madden, will sing. Elise Wynn, a sophomore at Seaford High School and the HOBY ambassador, will be a guest, as will her parents, Melanie and Bill, and older sister, Courtney.
Officers for 2000-2002 will be installed: Charlotte Wheatley, president; Barbara Glass, first vice president;
Ann McFarland, second vice president; Mary Swanson, corresponding secretary; Janet Gibson, recording secretary; Cheryl Hamilton, assistant recording secretary; Barbara Norton, treasurer; Louise Ellis, assistant treasurer; Mildred Wiedmann, auditor. The nominating committee was Sue Ockels, Teresa Blades and Eileen Craft.

Preschool to hold open house
St. John's Preschool will hold an open house Thursday, May 11, at 7 p.m. Members of the preschool board will be selected. The preschool is at Pine and Poplar streets in Seaford. Call Debby Shockley at 629-2289 for more information.

Yard sale, revue planned
The Seaford High School Chorus Parents' Association will hold a yard sale in the SHS cafeteria on Saturday, May 13, from 7 a.m. until noon.
That evening, the association will sponsor a Broadway revue, which will feature a dessert theatre and the members of the SHS chorus singing selections from Broadway musicals from the past 100 years.
The revue will be held at Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church beginning at 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the door. Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for children 12 and under.

Walk will benefit club
The Acorn Club of Seaford and the Boys & Girls Club Family Office will hold a Walk for Families Saturday, May 13, starting at 9 a.m. at the Boys & Girls Club, 310 Virginia Ave., Seaford.
Pledge sheets are available at the Boys & Girls Club or from any Acorn Club member.
Prizes will be awarded and refreshments will be served. For more information, contact Ron MacArthur at 629-8740.

Alumni to hold spring banquet
The Seaford High School Alumni Association will hold its annual banquet on Saturday, May 13, at the Seaford Golf & Country Club.
Tickets are $18 each and are available by phoning Becky Jones at 629-4847. The banquet will feature dinner, a short program and a silent auction.
