Class of 1990 plans reunion The Laurel High School Class of 1990 is planning its 10-year class reunion for November 2000. Classmates who have not been contacted may call Alison Hastings at 875-2166 or Kelly Layton at 875-4029. Special trash pickup set The town of Laurel will pick up leaves and tree limbs Monday, May 8. Residents are asked to clean the leaves from their curb area and place them in plastic bags. Limbs should be bundled in 4-foot lengths. Debris must be placed at the curb no later than 8 a.m. No materials other than leaves and tree limbs will be picked up. For details, call the Laurel town office at 875-2277. Prom set for May 13 Laurel High School will hold its prom Saturday, May 13
The grand march starts at 6 p.m. at Laurel High School. Cost is $2 per person, payable at the door. Parents will be admitted free with a ticket.
The prom begins at 7 p.m. at the the Laurel Fire Hall. Cost is $25 per couple, $15 single. Call 875-6120 for more information.

Ministerium offers scholarships
The Laurel Ministerium is offering college scholarships. Scholarship applications will be available after May 1 from area pastors and school guidance counselors. Requests for applications may also be sent to Laurel Ministerium Scholarships, 1010 S. Central Ave., Laurel, DE 19956.
Applications must be returned or postmarked by May 15 to qualify for consideration.

A look at colonial Delaware
The Laurel Public Library will present "Ordinary Life in Colonial Delaware," as part of Delaware Archaeology Month, on Wednesday, May 10, at 2 p.m. The speaker will be John Bedell Ph.D., archaeologist with Louis Berger and Associates Inc.
This program, which is free and open to the public, is sponsored by the Delaware Archaeology Forum.
Class of '60 plans reunion
The Laurel High School Class of 1960 is planning its 40th reunion, Saturday, June 24, at the Laurel American Legion Home. Social hour begins at 5:30 p.m., class picture at 6:30 p.m., and dinner at 7 p.m. The cost of the buffet dinner is $17 per person, and class pictures are $10 each. A tour of the old high school will begin at 1 p.m. the day of the reunion.
Organizers need help in locating Gayle Hyland. Anyone who has any information concerning her whereabouts may contact Carolyn Calio at 875-3770.

Park plans summer camps
Trap Pond State Park, Laurel, will hold several day camps this summer:
• Freshwater Minnows Camp, Monday, July 10, through Friday, July 14, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Children ages 8-10 will enjoy learning about aquatic habitats at the park. Campers will conduct a pond study, explore freshwater wetlands and examine swamp ecology. Cost is $100 per child.
• Naturals in Nature Camp, Monday, July 24, through Friday, July 28, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Campers ages 10-12 will discover the array of plant, aquatic and terrestrial environments within Sussex County. Cost is $100 per child.
Registration deadline for both camps is June 15. Call 875-5163 for details.

Library to mark Memorial Day
The Laurel Public Library will be closed Monday, May 29, for Memorial Day. The library will reopen Tuesday, May 30, at 10 a.m.
