Gethsemane plans fair
Gethsemane United Methodist Church will have a flower fair Saturday, May 5, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Food will be available. For details, call 629-9161.

Dinner set at Centenary
An all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner will be served by Centenary Promise Keepers at Centenary United Methodist Church, Laurel, Saturday, May 5, 4 to 7 p.m. Cost for adults is $5 and for children 6 to 12, $3. Children under 6 are admitted free.

Oysters to be part of supper
Cokesbury Community Center, near Reliance, is hosting a buffet supper featuring oysters Saturday, May 5. Seating is at 5 p.m. with dinner at 6 p.m. Price is $8. Sponsor is the United Methodist Women.

Men's Day to be May 6
East Clarence Street Church of God will hold its annual Men's Day Sunday, May 6. The Rev. David Poitier, Victory Christian Church, Hallandale, Fla., will speak at the 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. services. Dinner will be served after the evening service. The church will hold revival services May 7-11. Poitier will be guest evangelist

Temple plans spring rally

Christ UMC plans series
Christ United Methodist Church, 510 South Central Avenue, Laurel, will hold a series of services through June 24, which will be Dr. Brooks Reynolds' last service as pastor of the church. The theme will be "Forth Days of Love." On Sunday, May 13, the church will hold a Mother's Day service with guest speaker Dr. Harriet Windsor Smith, Delaware's Secretary of State. On Sunday, May 20, there will be a Memorial Day service. Sunday, May 27, Agriculture Service Day will honor of local farmers. Secretary of Agriculture Jack Tarburton, state Sen. Lewis Riley from Maryland and Jim Baxter and Tom Wright from the Laurel Auction will speak. On Sunday, June 3, the church will celebrate Pentecost with the burning of the mortgage for the recently purchased Miracle House next door to the church. Reynolds will speak.

New Zion to host singers
The Second Generation Community Chorus of Federalsburg, Md., will perform Sunday, May 6, 3:30 p.m. at the New Zion United Methodist Church, Laurel. Admission is $3 for adults. Cemetery to be cleaned up
The Macedonia AME Church, Seaford, will have a cemetery clean-up Saturday, May 5, 10 a.m. Members of the community are invited to help.

Republicans help ministry
Ten years ago the Millsboro Ministerium began the Christian Storehouse to aid local people who found themselves in crisis. One of the founders of the storehouse, Rachel Pusey, is a member of the Sussex County Republican Party. Rick Bell, a Republican and the county Recorder of Deeds, donated $1,000 to the storehouse's building fund. The Sussex County Republican Women's Club donated $500. The goal of the fund is $170,000.
