Day of Prayer service set
Celebration of the National Day of Prayer Service will be held at the Greenwood Memorial VFW Post 7478, Governors Avenue, Thursday, May 1, 7 p.m. County Sheriff Robert Reed and pastor Willie Pierce of New Birth Christian Center in Greenwood will speak. National Day of Prayer services will also be held at 5 p.m. in the Bridgeville Historical Society Park, Delaware Avenue and Williams Street, Bridgeville.
Conference to look at missions
The Bridgeville Church of God will hold its mission conference, “One Mission: Save the Lost at Any Cost,” May 2, 3 and 4 at the church, 7046 Seashore Highway, Bridgeville. The conference will address ways to become involved in missions work.
Gethsemane plans flower fair
Gethsemane United Methodist Church will have a flower fair Saturday, May 3, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Hanging baskets, bedding plants, geraniums, bushes and herbs will be sold. Lunch will be available along with homemade ice cream and baked goods. Free blood pressure checks will be offered from 9 to 11 a.m. The church’s youth group will hold a car wash.
In case of rain, the festival will be held inside the church’s fellowship hall.

Mt. Pleasant festival set
Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, Laurel, will hold its spring festival Saturday, May 3, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oyster fritters, homemade vegetable soup, chicken salad, ice cream, hot dogs, hamburgers, and baked goods will be available. Craft vendors will also be there.
Chorus to perform

Mt. Olive plans bus trip

Children to lead service
Children will lead the 11 a.m. worship service on Mother’s Day, May 11, at Christ Lutheran Church, Seaford. The service will include drama, liturgical dance, singing and puppets. The church is on the corner of Shipley and Spruce streets. Contact Amy Brown, 629-9755, for more information.
The Bible School for Special People will lead the worship service Sunday, May 18, 11 a.m. The program meets every Saturday, 10 a.m., for people with developmental disabilities. The class has over 40 students who are involved in weekly Bible study, worship and other activities which help them learn more about God’s love. The Voices of the Hill gospel choir will perform at the United Church of the Nazarene, Jackson Street, Hurlock, Md, Saturday, May 10, at 7 p.m.

The Bridgeville community prayer breakfast, sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Bridgeville, will be Saturday, May 10, 8 a.m., at the Bridgeville Church of God, Seashore Highway. Lady of Lourdes plans fair
A May Fair at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Stein Highway, Seaford, will be Saturday, May 10, 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. There will be attic treasures, clothing, linens, books, furniture, plants, games and toys. Baked goods will be for sale.
Food will be available throughout the fair. A raffle for money will be at 1 p.m.
Workshop on lying set
Daniel Cherneski, a Florida-licensed marriage and family therapist who has 15 years of experience treating adolescents and their families, will present a workshop, “Learn To Be a Liebuster,” at River of Life Christian Center, 17 West Market St., Greenwood, Saturday, May 10, 1 p.m. In Florida, Cherneski appeared on local television and national radio programs discussing teen and family issues.
He is an advocate for in-home therapy interventions.
