The Delmar Alumni Association held its second annual banquet Saturday, April 24, at the VFW in Delmar with 120 members in attendance. The association honored the undefeated football teams of 1959, 1985, 2001 and 2002. An auction was also held to benefit the scholarship fund. It was a fun night for all.

Special wishes to Rebecca Ammons on her 6th birthday on April 30, with love from her mom, step-dad and her family from Gumboro.

Birthday wishes to Louise Warrington, who will celebrate her birthday on April 28, from your family and friends.

David Bradshaw has won the state competition of the National Geographic Bee. He and his family will travel to Washington, D.C., in May for the national competition. David, we wish you the best of luck.

The 2005 Delmar Teacher of the Year nominees have been named. They are: Donna Dukes, Shauneen Giudice, Garland Hayward, Faith Melvin, Kathie Noonan, Tom Slavens, Wayne Smith and Lisa West. Former Teacher of the Year, Juley Harper, was featured as the Delmarva 47 “Teacher Who Makes a Difference“ for March.

Jared Ward has been named a Gold III Discover Card Tribute Award Scholarship winner in the Delaware program. Jared will receive a $2,500 scholarship and compete for a national $25,000 scholarship.

Sara Webb and Daniel Hudson have been nominated for the WGMD Senior Scholarship Program.

The Delmar Science Olympiad Team of Lindsey Goslee, Janet Waldman, Jessica Thomas and Roy Willey had each member medal in two of five events, an outstanding performance.

We send our deepest sympathy and prayers to the families and friends of Marie Mai Betts, Helen Marvel, Evelyn Horsey, Lavanion W. Belle and Sheila Yvette Hitchens Holmen.

Delmar Event to Help Children
In Delmar on Saturday, May 22, at 9 a.m. Food Lion employees and community people will be selling barbecue chicken, hamburgers, hotdogs and offering platters to go. There will be craft booths, live music, silent and live auctions, games and face painting. All funds raised from this event will go to benefit Johns Hopkins Children Hospital.
