Bi-Staters' Coffee Talk Sharon Cordrey 846-3396
A surprise birthday party was given for Donald Ward's 80th birthday at the Methodist Manor House in Seaford. In attendance were his wife, Louise, his daughter, Donna Tondreau, from Great Falls, Va., his brother and wife, George and Frances Ward, and his sister, Annabel Cordrey. They all helped to make Donald's birthday a special one.

Our deepest sympathy goes to Allen and Kitty Larason on the death of their daughter, Linda, who passed away Wednesday, April 11, in Trenton, N.J.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Granville Johnson, who is hospitalized in the Nanticoke Memorial Hospital.

We wish a speedy recovery to Woody and Mary Bartlett, who both underwent surgery last week.

Laurel Saddle Friends had their first horse game show Saturday, April 14, at the club grounds in Portsville. The game shows are enjoyed by all ages. If you never been to one of their shows, stop by and watch the proud owners and horses participate in the different classes of games. The next show will be May 5 at 6 p.m.

Don't forget to call me with your neighborhood news or send your email to seth@dmv.com.

Nominations for teacher of year open
The Delmar School District is seeking nominations for its 2002 Delmar Teacher of the Year. As designated by the Delaware Department of Education guidelines, nominees should be skillful and dedicated and should plan to continue as teachers. They should have the respect and admiration of students and co-workers. They should play an active role in their community and school. They should be poised and articulate and have the energy and composure to be able to withstand a busy schedule. The most important qualification is a superior ability to inspire a love of learning and to motivate all students to be life-long learners. It is not a "best teacher" selection. The teacher of the year is asked to represent the good qualities of all Delaware teachers. Nomination forms are available in the Delmar school and district offices as well as the Delmar Public Library. Nominees must submit a brief, one-page summary of their accomplishments and teaching philosophy. Nominations, with consent, must be returned to the Delmar School District Office to Charity Phillips on or before noon on Friday, April 27.
