READ-ALOUD Delaware Volunteer training session will be held Tuesday, April 30, at 1 p.m. in the Seaford Public Library. Volunteer readers are needed at various reading sites in Sussex County. Call 856-2527 for information.
Seaford Mayorís Right Choice Award application deadline May 3
The City of Seaford is proud to announce that nominations for the Mayorís Right Choice Award are now being accepted. This award is given to a high school senior who resides in the Seaford School District and has made the right choices in life, exhibited a positive influence on the Seaford Community, and maintained a drug free lifestyle. This award will be presented at the regular meeting of Mayor & Council on May 28, 2002. The winner will receive an engraved plaque and $500.
Applications can be picked up at City Hall, 302 E. King St., Monday through Friday (8 a.m.-5 p.m.) or from the guidance offices of Seaford High School, Sussex Technical High School and seaford Christian Academy.
The deadline for submitting completed applications is May 3, 2002. They may be submitted by mail (P.O. Box 1100, Seaford DE 19973) or by fax (629-9307) to the attention of Shannon Sapna. Questions should also be directed to Mrs. Sapna at 629-9173.
AAUW Geranium Sales Benefit Scholarships May 4
The Seaford American Association of University Women is taking orders for the annual geranium sale to raise money for local scholarships. Plants are $4 each in red, white, pink or fuchsia. Plants will be picked up at the West Seaford School parking lot on Saturday, May 4, between 9-11 a.m.
Elks host Bingo every Wednesday
The Seaford Elks Lodge has Bingo every Wednesday evening beginning promptly at 7:30. Food available from our kitchen.
Scholarship and Golf a good mix Sept. 28
The Woodland Ferry Association has approved an award of a $750 scholarship to be given to a deserving Seaford Senior High School senior. Chester H. Porches, president of the Association, states that this is an increase of $250 from past years. The Seaford High School Scholarship Committee will select the winner.
This annual scholarship is made possible by the donations made by individuals and merchants, players who participate and association members who plan and carry out this popular activity.
This year the Woodland Ferry Associationís Invitational Golf Outing will be held at the Woodland Golf Park on Saturday, Sept. 28. Jack Conner will coordinate this event. Call Jack at 629-4324 to play. Invitations will be mailed out to most of the players who have participated in the past.
Family nights each Friday
Family Nights each Friday at the Boys & Girls Club. Family Nights take place each Friday from 7-9 p.m. at the Western Sussex Boys & Girls Club. All are welcome (members and non-members) as long as children are accompanied by a parent or guardian. There is no admission fee and all areas of the club are open. Refreshments and prizes are also part of Family Night.
