The Easter egg hunt had to be postponed due to all the wet weather. Mark Saturday, April 19, on your calendar. The hunt will take place at 1 p.m. at the Delmar High School football field. The event is for all Delmar children and is sponsored by the Delmar Kiwanis Club.

On Easter Sunday, April 20, there will be a community sunrise service at 7 a.m. at the St. Stephen’s Cemetery behind Delmar Food Lion. You may stand or bring your own chair. A breakfast at Union United Methodist Church in Delmar will follow the service. The cost is $5 for all-you-can-eat.

Don’t miss the special program at the Delmar Public Library on Tuesday, April 22, at 7 p.m. Ed Okonowicz, a well-known local author, will present a program titled, “Disappearing Delmarva, Portraits of the Peninsula and its People.”

We send our prayers and get-well wishes to the following people who are patients at the Peninsula Regional Medical Center, Salisbury: Dorothy Greenwell, Ruth Webster and Mary T. Wooten.

Eighth-grade students of the month are: Roxy Clarke, period 1; Kneisha Schoolfield, period 2; George White, period 3; Jill Klaverweiden, period 6; and Bruise Roberts, period 7. Overall student of the month is Darren Collins, period 5.

The Delaware State Testing Program’s third annual Parent Night was again a great success. The program, under the direction of Charity Phillips, is now being modeled in other districts.

Delmar Little League will have grand opening day festivities on Saturday, April 26. A parade will begin at 9 a.m. and over 500 Little Leaguers will participate in the ceremonies at the ball park on Pennsylvania Avenue. Plan to enjoy the games that will begin at 10:30 a.m. Support the Delmar Little League.

BBQ, Car Wash, Bake
The Delmarva Dawgs Baseball Club is having a Chicken Barbeque, Car Wash & Bake Sale on Saturday, April 19. It will be held at the Wilmington Trust in Delmar. The car wash will begin at 9 a.m. This will benefit the Delmarva Dawgs Baseball Club.

Delmar Alumni Banquet
The first annual Delmar Alumni Banquet will be held on Saturday, April 26, at 6 p.m., at Delmar VFW, W. State Street, Delmar, Md. An Eastern Shore Buffet will be served and music will be by a D.J. Cost is $20 per person. Proceeds will benefit the Delmar Alumni Association Scholarship Fund. For more information call 410-896-2594.
