Bus trip to Easter show set
Mt. Calvary United Methodist Church, Bridgeville, is sponsoring a bus trip to the Easter Production 2003 at the Evangel Multimedia and Arts Center, Upper Marlboro, Md., Saturday, April 19. The bus will leave the church parking lot at noon. The show will feature artist Beverly Crawford as well as a live nativity scene and a laser show. Cost is $35. For details, call the Rev. St. Philip’s to mark season
St. Philip’s Episcopal Church, Laurel, will have Good Friday services with Stations of the Cross starting at noon. Sunday, April 20, Easter Sunday services will start at 9:30 a.m.

Carson to speak at breakfast
Gov. Ruth Ann Minner will host the 43rd annual Governor’s Prayer Breakfast Thursday, April 24, at the Modern Maturity Center in Dover. Dr. Ben Carson, the well-known director of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, will speak. Doors will open at 6:30 a.m. for the buffet breakfast, and the program will begin at 7:30 a.m. at the Modern Maturity Center on Forrest Avenue in Dover. Tickets are available upon request by mailing a check payable to Governor’s Prayer Breakfast for $11 per person to Governor’s Prayer Breakfast, P.O. Box 988, Dover, DE 19903 by April 17.

Easter parade to be in Laurel
New Zion United Methodist Church is planning its third annual Easter Parade. The parade is scheduled for Saturday, April 19, in Laurel, beginning at noon. New Zion is inviting churches, community organizations, children and youth groups to participate. Parade participants will meet on Evergreen Drive (beside Food Rite and the Laurel Middle School) at 11 a.m. The parade will begin on Evergreen Drive and proceed north on Central Avenue through town. Abortion protest planned
Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Stein Highway, Seaford, will sponsor a Life Chain, protesting abortion, Friday, April 18, 10 a.m. to noon. The chain of protestors will form in front of the church and will stretch along the highway. For details, call Ann Elliott, 875-5744.

Church plans gospel meetings
The Laurel Church of Christ is holding gospel meetings April 20 through 23, featuring Jamell Carroll. There will be three services on April 20: 9 a.m., “Touching the Untouchable,”10 a.m., “Correctly Crowning Christ” and 6 p.m., “All In The Family.” On April 21, at 7 p.m., the theme will be “Dead Man Walking”; on April 22, 7 p.m., “Eye of the Storm”; and on April 23, 7 p.m., “Spiritual Eviction.” A light dinner will follow the Sunday evening service. Recording artists to perform
Dove Award winning Christian recording artists Phillips, Craig and Dean will be in concert Friday, April 25, 7 p.m. at Emmanuel Wesleyan Church, Salisbury. Church plans Easter services
The Mission in Service, Roanoke, Va., will perform dramatic skits on Easter, April 20, during the 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. services at the Dagsboro Church of God. There will also be communion. For more information call 732-6550.

St. Luke’s plans Holy Week
St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Front Street, Seaford, has planned the following services for Holy Week:
  • Maundy Thursday, April 17 - Simple Agape Supper, 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.; the Celebration of the Institution of the Holy Eucharist, the Stripping of the Altar, the Reserving of the Sacrament - Prayer Vigil, 8 p.m.
  • Good Friday, April 18 - Good Friday Liturgy and Holy Communion from the reserved Sacrament and reading of The Passion, noon; Stations of the Cross, 7 p.m.
  • Holy Saturday, April 19 - Liturgy of the Word, 10 a.m.
Passion Play to be presented
Stein Highway Church of God, Stein Highway and Market Street, Seaford, will present a Passion Play, “The Life of Christ,” 7 p.m. on April 18 and 19, and at 10 a.m. Easter Sunday, April 20. Admission is free. For details call 629-8583.

Bus trip to Holyland USA set
The Calvary Church of God is taking reservations for a bus trip to Holyland U.S.A., in Virginia, on April 26. Price is $68 per person, which includes transportation and breakfast. Service to be at sunrise
The Bridgeville community will hold an Easter sunrise service at 6:30 Easter morning at the pond next to the cemetery. Breakfast will be served after the service in the church fellowship hall.

Traditional Latin mass set
A Latin mass according to the Missal of 1962 is celebrated on the third Sunday of every month at 3 p.m. at Holy Cross Church in Dover. This month’s mass will be celebrated on Easter Sunday. Trinity plans sunrise service

Patriotic service planned
Concord Methodist Church, Seaford, will host the Old Time Gospel Singers and pastor Leon Brunner on Sunday, April 27, at 2 p.m. for a service called, “America, Our Service Men and Women.” For information call 629-2512.

Day of Prayer service set
Celebration of the National Day of Prayer Service will be held at the Greenwood Memorial VFW Post 7478, Governors Avenue, Thursday, May 1, 7 p.m. The theme is, “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people. (Proverbs 14:34).” County Sheriff Robert Reed and pastor Willie Pierce of New Birth Christian Center in Greenwood will speak. Conference to look at missions
The Bridgeville Church of God will hold its mission conference, “One Mission: Save the Lost at Any Cost,” May 2, 3 and 4 at the church, 7046 Seashore Highway, Bridgeville. The conference will address ways to become involved in missions work. Speakers will be:
  • Friday, May 2, 7 p.m. - Pastor Allen Greijack of Williamsport, Md.
  • Saturday, May 3, 9 a.m. - Joel Hitchcock, followed by morning and afternoon workshops on missions on broad areas, from Seaford to Washington, D.C., South America, to Europe to India. Guests will be Brenda Anderson, Phillips and Mary Morris, Tim Branks and Diane Lofland.
  • Saturday, May 3, 7 p.m.- Allen Greijack.
  • Sunday, May 4, 10:45 a.m. - Missions regional superintendent Thomas Sands.
