Mt. Pleasant to host Scotts
Jeff and Jeanine Scott will perform on Palm Sunday, April 16, 7 to 8 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant UMC, Laurel.
Jeff Scott is a pianist. He holds a bachelor's degree in piano performance from Wake Forest University. His wife, a native of Syracuse, N.Y., holds a degree in music therapy. They reside in Bridgeville with their children, Maria, Emma and Gray.

Centenary UMC to host drama
On Sunday, April 16, 7 p.m., Centenary United Methodist Church in Laurel will host a dessert theatre featuring the Centenary drama team performing "He's Alive!" Admission is free.

Church to hold buffet
A fried chicken buffet will be held Saturday, April 15, at Bethany Church-Lowes Crossroads near Millsboro, from 2 to 6 p.m. Adults and carryouts, $7.50; children, $3. A bake table will be available.

Observing Holy Week
St. Philips Episcopal Church in Laurel will hold a celebration of Holy Eucharist Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday at 9:30 a.m. and Wednesday, April 19, at noon.
On April 20 there will be a Passover meal at 6 p.m., followed by the Maundy Thursday service and stripping of the altar. At noon on Good Friday there will be a service observing the Stations of the Cross. At 9:30 a.m. on Easter Sunday, April 23, there will be the celebration of Christ's Resurrection with the lighting of the Pascal Candle followed by the festive service of Holy Eucharist.

UMC to mark Good Friday
A good Friday service, "He Died as He Lived," will be held at Christ United Methodist Church, Laurel.
Meditation on the seven words from the cross will be given by seven lay people at the church, 510 Central Ave., Laurel, from noon to 1 p.m.
The words of the speakers are:
First word - "Father Forgive╔" Carolyn O'Neal, editor, Sussex Countian.
Second word -"Today in Paradise╔" Allan Cannon.
Third word - "Woman╔Son╔" Lucy Lutz, president UMW.
Fourth word- "My God Why╔" Pat Murphy, vice president, Laurel Star
Fifth word - "I Thirst╔" Calvin Hearn.
Sixth word - "It is Finished╔" Robert Lewis
Seventh word - "Into Thy Hands╔" Bruce Farrelly.
Music will include the spiritual, "Were you there when they crucified my Lord?"

Police work as a ministry
Witness International Inc. is holding an eight-week criminal justice course Tuesday, April 25, through Thursday, June 8. Classes are conducted from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Salisbury City Police headquarters, U.S. 50 and Delaware Avenue. The deadline for registration is April 17.
Topics will include: becoming equipped for ministry; the history of corrections; an overview of the criminal justice system; and victim's rights.

Blades U.M.C. trip planned
Blades United Methodist Church is sponsoring a cruise to the Eastern Caribbean as a fund-raiser. Participants will sail on Jan. 20, 2001, for a one-week trip on the S.S. Lenten Services at St. Luke's
St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Front Street, Seaford, is holding Lent services on Wednesday evenings. The service begins with evening prayer at 5:30 p.m., followed by supper. At 7 p.m., the Stations of the Cross are observed in the sanctuary.

Women's Day at Mt. Calvary
Mt. Calvary United Methodist Church, Bridgeville, will observe its annual Women's Day on Sunday, April 16, at 10:30 a.m. The guest preacher will be minister Janice Austin of Poplar Grove Baptist Church in Gaithersburg, Md.

Church to present cantata
The Easter cantata, "I Stand In Awe," will be presented by the choir of the Atlanta Road Alliance Church on Friday evening, April 21, at 7:30, and on Easter Sunday, April 23, at 11 a.m. The choir is under the direction of Richard Trice. For details call 629-7693. The church is located on Atlanta Road, 1 and 1/2 miles north of the Nylon Capitol Shopping Plaza, next to Seaford Animal Hospital.

Gethsemane to sell flowers
Gethsemane United Methodist Church will have a flower fair Saturday, May 6, rain or shine, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Available for sale will be Mother's Day gifts and garden items such as hanging baskets, bedding plants, geraniums, etc. Lunch will be available along with homemade ice cream and baked goods. Proceeds will benefit the building fund since Gethsemane Church was totally destroyed by fire two years ago.

BSSP service open to all
The Bible School for Special People (BSSP) class at Christ Lutheran Church invites the community to join them in worship on May 7, at 11 a.m. The BSSP class has more than 40 students who are involved in weekly Bible study, worship and other activities.
There will be reception following the worship service in the fellowship hall of Christ Lutheran Church.

Woodland to serve dumplings
The women of Woodland United Methodist Church will hold a chicken and dumpling dinner Saturday, April 15, 6 p.m. in the church's fellowship hall. Admission for adults costs $7 and for children 6 to 12, $4. Children under 6 will be admitted free.
