Oyster dinner April 6
The membership of St. John A.M.E. Zion Church, Road 62, Ross Point, Laurel, is hosting an Oyster, Chicken or Fish Platter dinner or sandwiches, on Friday, July 6, starting at noon until ?. Oyster Platter, cost $10, includes: oyster fritters, string beans, potato salad, macaroni and cheese, candied yams, greens, dumpling, corn bread or roll. Chicken Platter, Cost $7, includes: chicken (fried or baked), string beans, potato salad, macaroni and cheese, candied yams, greens, dumpling, corn bread or roll. Fish Platter, cost $7, (limited), includes: fried fish, string beans, potato salad, macaroni and cheese, candied yams, greens, dumplings, corn bread or roll. Oyster fritter sandwich, cost $4; fish or chicken sandwich, cost $3. Pastor is the Rev. Oris P. Fields Sr.

Spring Festival in Laurel
Laurel Senior Center, 113 Central Ave., presents its annual Spring Festival, on Friday, April 6, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. the menu consists of all homemade delicacies: oyster fritters and Chicken salad sandwiches, vegetable soup, pies and ice cream. Carry outs and delivery also available. There also will be baked goods, crafts and White Elephant tables.

Laurel Library celebrates
Saturday, April 7 - 10:30 a.m. - "What Makes Poetry Poetry?" - a participation workshop for children ages 8-12 presented by Richard Davison from the University of Delaware, sponsored by the Delaware Humanities Foundation. Preregistration is required. And also on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.- Mad Magazine Cartoonist Bob Clark will present a demonstration and workshop for interested persons of all ages. Preregistration is required.
Laurel Library events
April events at the Laurel Public Library, beginning on Tuesday, April 10, the Delmar High School Drama Club will present "Frumpled Fairy Tales" at 4 p.m. Open to all ages.
Thursday, April 12 - Come celebrate author Beverly Cleary's birthday with a Ramona movie and popcorn at 4:30 p.m. Open to all ages.
Monday, April 16 - Make a terrarium with organic gardening guru Sharon Carson at 1 p.m. Pre-registration is required and is limited to 10 children ages 8 and older, so sign up early!
Wednesday, April 18 - "Snakes at the library!" The Trap Pond naturalist will present a program on reptiles at 2 p.m. Pre-registration is required and is limited to children ages 5 and older.

Spaghetti Dinner April 7
Boy Scout Troop 90 of Laurel will be hosting their famously delicious All-You-Can-Eat Spaghetti Dinner on Saturday, April 7, at Centenary United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall in Laurel. Lunch Carry-outs will be available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for $5. (Delivery to local businesses may be arranged by calling 846-2478 in advance.) Dinner will be served from 3:30-7 p.m. at a cost of $5 for adults and carry-outs. Children under 12 are $3, under 6 are free. Come out and support the scouts.
