VFW Post 7478 Auxiliary celebrates 50th anniversary
More than 80 members and guests celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Auxiliary of the VFW Post 7478 of Greenwood on Saturday, Feb. 24. Charter members Gerri Cannon, June Bostick, and Elaine Jones were presented flowers by Connie Manning, the current president. Each of the charter members reflected about some of the happenings that have occurred over the years. Past presidents were presented roses and recognized for their service to the auxiliary and post activities. Bob Manning, Quartermaster of Post 7478, served as M.C. and kept the program moving. Aileen Timmons, president of District IV, VFW of Delaware, presented a certificate from the National Auxiliary. Highlights of the program included special musical renditions by Linda Collins and flutist Olga Ledvinka. The VFW Post Commander Edith Vincent extended a welcome on behalf of the post and commended the members of the Auxiliary for their support over the years to the post and their contributions to the community. The Rev. Micheale Russell gave the invocation and Harold Mullins, commander of District IV, VFW, gave the benediction. Everyone enjoyed the dinner catered by Jimmy's Grill. It was a memorable evening for attendees to share in the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Auxiliary of Post 7478.
