Mt. Pleasant plans festival
Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, Laurel, will hold a yard sale and festival Saturday, April 6. The yard sale will begin at 7 a.m. and scrapple sandwiches and coffee will be available from 8 to 10 a.m. The yard sale rain date is April 13. The festival will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oyster fritters, hamburgers, hot dogs and chicken salad sandwiches, homemade vegetable soup, homemade ice cream and baked goods and drinks will be available. A silent auction of a Longaberger basket and homemade Mt. Pleasant Church quilt will be held. Proceeds will go toward painting and carpeting the interior of the church. Fay to lead seminar
William Fay, author of “Share Jesus Without Fear,” will conduct a seminar at the Delmar Convention Center Sunday, April 7, at 6 p.m. Beginning at 5 p.m. the Epworth Fellowship Church Praise Team, led by Barry and Cami Dukes, will perform. Admission is free. A nursery will be available.

Card party set at St. Luke’s
The ECW of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Seaford, are planning a dessert, card and game party for Tuesday, April 9, 7 to 9:30 p.m. in the parish house, King and North streets, Seaford. The evening will begin with homemade desserts plus beverages. Those attending are requested to bring cards or a favorite game. Tickets are $5 per person and are available by calling Betty Meyers at 629-7111. All profits will be used for the outreach programs sponsored by the ECW.

Cash family to sing
New Beginnings Worship Center will host a gospel sing featuring the Cash Family Singers Saturday, April 13, 7 p.m. The church is 3 miles south of Harrington at the corner of Williamsville Road and US 13. For information call 398-8808.

Singing in praise
The United Methodist Churches of the Mission Area Ministry Team will hold a song festival Sunday, April 14, 7 p.m., at Gethsemane United Methodist Church, Reliance. The “song fest” will consist of music from various United Methodist Churches, choir groups, soloists and instrumentalists. Gethsemane Church is 4 miles west of Seaford at Reliance (entrance is on the Woodland Ferry Road).
Orchestra, choirs to perform
“Savor Goes Gospel,” a concert featuring the Salisbury Symphony Orchestra at Salisbury University and the gospel choirs of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore and SU, will be Saturday, April 27, 8 p.m., in the Ella Fitzgerald Center for the performing arts at UMES in Princess Anne. The evening will include desserts, coffees and champagne. This is the first collaborative effort between these musical groups. Proceeds will benefit the groups. Tickets are $35 and must be purchased by April 12. For details, call 410-548-5587.

Denton church plans revival
Denton Wayside Church, routes 16 and 404, near Denton, Md., will hold revival services April 9 through 14, 7:30 nightly. The Rev. Mark Clendaniel, of Chillicothe, Ohio, will lead the services. For more information call 1-410-479-0035.

Volunteers teach prisoners
Thresholds is an all-volunteer organization which teaches decision-making skills to those incarcerated in Delaware’s prisons. Volunteers are needed who can give two hours a week for 10 weeks, or two hours two times per week for one cycle of five weeks. Training will be held Saturday, April 13, at the University of Delaware. For information call 302-777-0356. Thresholds has been active in Delaware for more than 20 years and teaches the decision-making program at the Correctional Center in Smyrna, Gander Hill Prison in Wilmington, and Baylor Women’s Corrections Center in New Castle, the Sussex Correctional Center in Georgetown and the Ferris School for Juveniles in Wilmington. It has trained 86 volunteers.

Song Fest to feature musicians
The United Methodist Churches of the Mission Area Ministry team will hold Song Fest Sunday, April 14, 7 p.m., at Gethsemane United Methodist Church, Reliance. Various United Methodist Churches, choir groups, soloists and instrumentalists will perform. Gethsemane Church is located 4 miles west of Seaford at Reliance (the entrance is on the Woodland Ferry Road).

Mt. Calvary fish fry set
The trustees of Mt. Calvary United Methodist Church, 28 Church St., Bridgeville, are sponsoring a fish fry Friday, April 19, 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. Cost is $7 per platter, which includes fish, fried potatoes, string beans, stewed tomatoes and cornbread. Cakes and sodas will also be sold. To place orders, call 337-7090 the day of the sale. Carryouts or dining in are available. Deliveries will be available for orders over $21.

Women’s Day services planned
The Bridgeville Charge United Methodist Churches will hold their first Joint Women’s Day services Sunday, April 28, at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., at Mt. Calvary United Methodist Church, 28 Church St., Bridgeville. The speaker for the morning will be the Rev. Marie Robinson of the Bridgeville Charge and the speaker for the afternoon service will be the Rev. Tina M. Miles of Kingdom Worship Center, Baltimore, Md. Dinner will be served after the afternoon service.
