Fund Raiser at Roadhouse
The Roadhouse Steak Joint will host a fund raiser for the Sussex County Return Day from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m., Wednesday, April 28. Members of the Sussex County Return Day committee will assist Roadhouse wait staff between 5 and 8 p.m. The Roadhouse, located at Midway Shopping Center in Rehoboth Beach, will donate 10 percent of its entire daily proceeds to Sussex County Return Day.

Driver Safety Program
An AARP Driver Safety Course for people 50 and over will be given from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on April 5 and 6 at the Methodist Manor House, 1001 Middleford Road, Seaford. The two-day program, sponsored by the American Association for Retired Persons, stresses how older drivers may operate vehicles safely. Upon completion of the program, participants receive a certificate entitling them to a reduction in their auto insurance. For information and registration, call 629-8081. The cost is $10 per person.

Sunday Breakfast Buffet
Sunday breakfast by the Galestown Ruritan Club, April 25, from 7-10 a.m. at the Galestown (Md.) Community Hall. Cost is $6 for adults, $4 children ages 6-12.

Chicken Barbecue April 10

Mustang Club Cruise-In
The Lower Delaware Mustang Club’s cruise-ins are back at the Wal-Mart in Seaford. Cruise-ins are held the first Saturday of every month from April through October, from 5-8 p.m. The first cruise in on April 10 will be a canned food drive and the first 100 cars will receive a dash plaque.

Evening of Gospel Music
Second annual Evening of Gospel Music featuring Ole Time Gospel Singers, Pam Rush, The King’s Ambassadors, Jerry Jones, Saturday, April 3, 6:30 p.m., Seaford Wesleyan Church (The Ark). Proceeds will benefit the Hope House.

Civil War Hero is Topic
Dr. John Farquhar, a retired Seaford dentist, will discuss information he has uncovered involving Seaford native Lt. Wm. James Fisher (born in 1843) who fought in the Battle of Gettysburg at a meeting of the Seaford Historical Society on Tuesday, April 6, at 7 p.m. at the Methodist Manor House, Seaford. There will be a slide presentation along with his presentation. The talk is free and open to the public.

Basket Bingo on April 8
The Tidewater and Small Wonders Chapter of the International Association of Administrative Professionals will have a Basket Bingo, Thursday, April 8, at 7 p.m. at the Seaford Moose, U.S. 13A in Seaford. There will be 20 games and will feature several basket combinations including the 2004 Easter Set. Advance tickets are $20 per person, $25 at the door. Advance ticket includes a chance to win a special door prize. Refreshments will be available. AARP Meeting April 8
AARP Seaford Chapter 1084 will meet Thursday, April 8, at the Methodist Manor House Fellowship Hall, 1:30 p.m. Guest speaker will be Laurel Town Manager Glenn Steckman. Democrats Plan Meeting
Sussex County Democrat executive committee special meeting, Thursday, April 1, Del Tech Room 529, 7 p.m. to elect a replacement for the Sussex County chair, Thelma Monroe, who is retiring due to another appointment.  Nominations will be taken and election will be held at this meeting.

The Hamptons - Long Island
Seaford AARP is sponsoring a three-day trip to the Hamptons, Long Island, N.Y., April 26-28, including a “Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous” tour. Manor House Plans NY Trip
(Deposit prior to April 14)
The Methodist Manor House will host a 2-day/1-night trip to New York City on Dec. 15, 16. Cost of the trip is $347 per double occupancy and includes round-trip transportation by deluxe motorcoach, accommodations at the Howard Johnson Plaza Hotel, orchestra seat tickets to Radio City Music Hall for the Christmas show, one first-class dinner, baggage handling and hotel taxes, gratuities for bellman, motorcoach driver, meal and tour manager, and services of a professional tour manager. The Towne & Country Fair committee is seeking craft vendors, exhibitors, and demonstrators for the event scheduled for Saturday, May 22, at the historic Gov. Spring Forward Poker Run, April 4
The 15th annual Spring Forward Poker Run will take place Sunday, April 4, starting and ending at Harley-Davidson of Seaford. Registration takes place from 10 a.m. to noon with prizes being awarded at 3 p.m. The entry fee is $10 which includes a hot dog and soda. There will be door prizes, music, and cash prizes to the winning poker hands. The event will take place rain or shine.
