Tickets on sale for bingo
Our Lady of Lourdes Youth Group will sponsor Longaberger basket bingo Saturday, March 24, 6 p.m. at the church parish hall. All proceeds will help the youth group to travel to the National Catholic Youth Conference in Indiana. Tickets in advance cost $20, or $25 at the door. Supper to include oysters
On Saturday, March 3, a buffet supper with oysters will be held at Cokesbury Community Center, near Reliance. Price is $8. There will be one seating only and there will be no carry outs. This is sponsored by the United Methodist Women.

Carson play rescheduled
A performance of the play "Ben Carson, M.D.," originally scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 22, and canceled due to snow, has been rescheduled for Friday, March 2. The performance will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium of Caesar Rodney High School. Tickets originally issued for Feb. 22 will be honored and there are additional tickets available for the rescheduled performance. They may be purchased in advance at a cost of $5 for adults and $3 for children 12 and younger. There will be an additional charge of $2 per ticket for those purchased at the door the evening of the show. "Ben Carson, M.D." is based on the autobiographical book "Gifted Hands," which tells the story of the life of Dr. Carson from his childhood in inner city Detroit to his life-saving work as a world-renowned pediatric neurosurgeon at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. It is being staged in cooperation with the Columbia Center for Theatrical Arts and sponsored by Bayhealth Medical Center. For information or to purchase tickets call 855-1620 or (302)735-8200.

Free tax assistance offered
AARP-Tax Aide is offering free tax counseling and preparation through April 11 for middle and low income taxpayers, with special emphasis on those 60 and over. AARP-Tax Aide volunteers, trained in cooperation with the Internal Revenue Service, will assist with personal tax returns at the following locations:

TRIAD meeting is March 8
The Western Sussex County TRIAD will meet Thursday, March 8, 10 a.m. at the Nanticoke Senior Center, 310 Virginia Ave., Seaford. The TRIAD organization is comprised of citizens and law enforcement working together to ensure the safety of senior citizens. The topic for the next TRIAD meeting will be traffic problems and enforcement. Meetings are normally scheduled for the second Thursday of each month at 10 a.m. at the Nanticoke Senior Center.
