Church plans trip to theater
Bethel United Methodist Church, Bethel, is planning a bus trip to Sight & Sound Theatre, Lancaster, Pa., to see “Daniel, a Dream, a Den, a Deliverer” on Saturday, April 13. The show will be at 1 p.m. The group will stop for dinner at the historic Strasburg Inn at 4:15 p.m. Price is $84 per person. House to sing at St. Philip’s
Ann Carvel House will present a vocal concert Sunday, March 3, 3 p.m., at St. Philip’s Church, Laurel. Mary Ann Torkelson, organist and choir director at the church, will accompany her at the piano and organ. A reception will be held following the concert. Ministerium serving hot meals
The Greater Laurel Ministerium is serving hot meals every Friday evening from 6 to 7:30 p.m., at Centenary United Methodist Church, West and Poplar streets. The meal is a free outreach ministry of the churches of Laurel, providing not only a hot meal, but a brief devotional as well. For more information call 875-4233 from 9 a.m. to noon.

Church to host breakfast
A prayer breakfast for Churches United for Christ will be Saturday, Feb. 23, 8 a.m., in the dining hall of St. Matthews First Baptist, Laurel. The preacher will be the Rev. Craylon Sessoms Hopkins, New Zion United Methodist Church, Laurel. Admission is $10. For details, call Mary Bolden, 875-7825.
World Day of Prayer set
The annual World Day of Prayer service will be Friday, March 1, 10 a.m. This ecumenical service was written this year by Christian women of Romania on the theme, “Challenged to Reconcile.” Participants are called to consider world peace and justice and act to bring about solidarity and compassion for Christians throughout the world. Locally, the service will be held at Gethsemane United Methodist Church, 4 miles west of Seaford on Delaware 20. The service is sponsored by Church Women United, a grassroots ecumenical movement of Protestant, Roman Catholic, Orthodox and other Christian women. For more information, call Karen Bell, 629-9161.

Dinner to feature dumplings
Centenary United Methodist Church, Laurel, will hold a chicken and dumpling dinner Saturday, March 9, 4 to 7 p.m. Tickets are available at the church office. They are $7, $3.50 for children 6 to 12. Children under 6 will be admitted free. Tickets will also be available at the door, at a slightly higher price. Carry-out dinners will be served.

St. Paul’s plans hymn sing
A hymn sing will be Sunday, Feb. 24, 7 p.m., at St. Paul’s Church, Old Stage Road, Laurel. Refreshments will be served. NEW SINGING GROUP. A new gospel singing group has been formed called the “Sounds of Joy Trio.” Members, all of whom attend St. Paul’s Church in Laurel, are, Marie Derrickson, piano; Mona Smarte, tenor; Gladys Simons, lead singer; Rose Fluharty, alto; Dave Fluharty, lead guitar; Carol Murray, bass and Don Murray, acoustic guitar.
