SHS open house is tonight
Seaford Senior High School will host an open house for parents Thursday, Feb. 17, from 5:30 to 7 p.m., in the school cafeteria. Teachers will be available to discuss success in school, state testing and plans for this semester.
Refreshments will be served.

Alumni to meet tonight
The Seaford High School Alumni Association will meet at the Boys and Girls Club on Virginia Avenue, Seaford, Thursday, Feb. 17, at 7 p.m.

Elks to host dinner, dance
The Seaford Elks Lodge #2458 will host its fifth annual ham and oyster dinner, auction and dance on Saturday, Feb. 26. The dinner starts at 6:30 p.m., followed by the auction and then the dance, featuring "Hawaiian George." Cost is $10 per person. Members and their guests only are welcome.
Only 150 advance tickets will be sold. No tickets will be available at the door. For tickets or more information call 629-2458 or 629-7357. All proceeds benefit the Elks National Foundation.

Help with toilet training
Parents As Teachers will host a program about toilet training, "It's Potty Time," Wednesday, Feb. 23, 6:30 to 8 p.m., at the Seaford Kindergarten. Babysitting will be provided. For more information call Chris Henderson, 875-2781.

Puppets for Christ to appear
Marvin S. Steele, puppeteer, will be appearing with his Puppets for Christ at the Caffe Sarajevo, 413 High St., Seaford, Saturday, Feb. 26, at 2 p.m. Admission is free and all ages are welcome. For more information call 629-6146 or 629-5616.

UMW to hold oyster dinner
A buffet supper with oysters will be held at Cokesbury Community Center, near Reliance on Saturday, March 4, at 6 p.m. The public is invited. Price is $8. There will be no carryouts available and there will be one seating only. This affair is sponsored by United Methodist Women.
Winter park events set
Trap Pond State Park east of Laurel has planned the following events. All programs meet at the Baldcypress Nature Center unless otherwise noted. To register, call the nature center at (302) 875-5163.
• Beaver Bound, Saturday, Feb. 19, 1 p.m. Participants will hike along the Cypress Point Trail and search for signs of beaver activity along the end of the pond. Meet at the Cypress Point parking lot.
• Maple Sugaring, Saturday, Feb. 26, 1 p.m. Participants will learn the traditional ways of gathering sap and then will sample some of the succulent sap and products made from maple syrup.

Senior center plans activities
The Nanticoke Senior Center, 310 Virginia Ave., Seaford, has planned the following activities:
Thursday, Feb. 17 - 8:30 a.m., board of director's meeting; 10 a.m., dominoes, games and indoor shuffleboard; 10 a.m., Medicare presentation; 10:30 a.m., Bible study; 1 p.m. arthritis exercise class.

Friday, Feb. 18 - 9 a.m., pinochle and bridge; 10 a.m., dominoes, games and indoor shuffleboard; 10 a.m., Blue Cross representatives; 10 a.m., shopping at the flea market; 1 p.m., bingo.

Monday, Feb. 21 - Center closed for President's Day.

Tuesday, Feb. 22 - 10 a.m., dominoes, games and indoor shuffleboard; 10 to 11:30 a.m., fitness and nutrition class with Mike Hall; 10 a.m., crafts; 1 p.m., coupon redemption.

Wednesday, Feb. 23 - 9 a.m., pinochle and bridge; 10 a.m., dominoes, games and indoor shuffleboard; 10 a.m. to noon, AARP tax counseling; 1 p.m., trips for 2000 meeting; shopping at Walmart.

Thursday, Feb. 24 - 10 a.m., dominoes, games and indoor shuffleboard; 10:30 a.m., Bible study; 12:45 p.m., shopping at the curiosity shop; 1 p.m., arthritis exercise class.
