Seaford fire department honors its members

The Seaford Volunteer Fire Department held its annual banquet Saturday, Feb. 3. New officers were inducted, past chiefs were honored and top responders were named. Two members were honored with 25-year awards and lifetime memberships. In the top photo at right, Dan Short, Seaford, receives his 25-year pin from company president Rich Toulson. Seaford election deadline - The deadline for filing for the one seat open on the Seaford City Council is Friday, Feb. 16, at 5 p.m. at the City Hall. The seat of Councilman Ed Butler is up for election. Butler, who has served for 15 years, has filed for the three-year seat. Candidates must be at least 18 and a resident of the city for at least one year. The deadline to register to vote is also Friday at 5 p.m. About 1400 are registered as voters.

Blades election deadline - The deadline for filing for the seats up for election in Blades is Monday, Feb. 19, at 4:30 p.m. The seats of Mayor B.J. Hardin, Vice Mayor Russell Joseph and Councilman Joseph McCabe are up for election. As of Tuesday no one had filed. Candidates in Blades must be 25 and a town resident for at least three months. Call the town office at 629-7366 for details on how to register. The deadline to register to vote is Friday, Feb. 23, at 4:30 p.m. at the Town Hall.
