AARP to meet Feb. 8
Seaford Chapter #1084 of the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) will meet at the Methodist Manor House, 1001 Middleford Road, Seaford, Thursday, Feb. 8, at 1:30 p.m. Gary Wray will speak on Delaware's involvement in
World War II.

Authors to sign novels
Delaware Chapter 5 of Romance Writers of America will sponsor a Valentine's book signing Saturday, Feb. 10, at B.Dalton Booksellers, Salisbury. Romance writers Linda Windsor, Lynn Bailey, Judith E. Auditions set for 'Oliver'
Possum Point Players will hold auditions for the musical "Oliver" Sunday, Feb. 11, at 2 p.m.; Monday, Feb. 12, at 7 p.m.; and Tuesday, Feb. 13, at 7 p.m. All auditions will take place at Possum Hall in Georgetown. Republican Club dinner set
The first annual Western Sussex Republican Club Lincoln Day dinner will be Monday, Feb. 12, 6 p.m. at RJ Riverside restaurant, Laurel. US Rep. Mike Castle will speak and Georgetown attorney Karl Haller, who impersonates Abraham Lincoln, will discuss Sussex County's role in the Civil War. Cost is $15 per person. Tai Chi class begins Feb. 13
Nanticoke Senior Center is offering a Tai Chi class for senior citizens. This 10-week class kicks off with a presentation by instructor, Dr. Bob McBrien, explaining the ancient Chinese system of exercise on Tuesday, Feb. 13, 10:30 a.m. Instruction will begin Tuesday, Feb. 20, at 10:30 a.m. Cost of class is $50 for members, $60 for non-members. Alumni to host bingo
The Laurel Alumni Association will have a basket bingo party Tuesday, Feb. 13, 6 p.m. at the Laurel Fire Hall. Tickets cost $20 in advance and $25 at the door; those with advance tickets are entered in a drawing for a hamper with a lid. Proceeds will benefit the association's scholarship fund. Lady of Lourdes bingo postponed Our Lady of Lourdes youth group will sponsor a Longaberger basket bingo Saturday, March 24 (originally scheduled for Feb. 17), at Our Lady of Lourdes Church parish hall. Free Tax Assistance
AARP-Tax Aide is offering free tax counseling and preparation through April 11 for middle- and low-income taxpayers with special emphasis on those 60 and over. Volunteers, trained in cooperation with the Internal Revenue Service, will assist with personal tax returns at the following locations:

Safe boating courses set
The Seaford Flotilla of the Coast Guard Auxiliary will offer the Delaware State Boating Course on Feb. 17 and 24, 8 a.m. to noon at the new Nanticoke River Yacht Club building on Market Street in Blades. Indoor Turkey Shoot planned

Blades auxiliary planning dinner
The Blades Volunteer Fire Co. auxiliary will host a beef and dumpling dinner Sunday, Feb. 18, noon, at the Blades Fire Hall, Fifth and Cannon streets, Blades. Admission for adults is $7 and for children 10 and under, $4. Children 4 and under will be admitted free. Carryouts will be available for $7.50.

Trap Pond Partners to meet
Trap Pond Partners, a non-profit group dedicated to the improvement of Trap Pond State Park, will meet Wednesday, Feb. 14, at Trap Pond Nature Center.
