Scouts plan breakfast, display in park
Laurel Boy Scout Troop 90 is celebrating the 92nd birthday of scouting on Saturday, Feb. 16, at the Bandstand Park. The troop invites the community to visit the park and look at its displays on camping gear, patches, ribbons and photos. Troop 90 will sell pancake breakfast in the park. The cost is $5 per breakfast, which will be take-out only. Time for the breakfast will be from 9 a.m. to noon and the display will be open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Anyone who has Scouting photos from the early 1900s to 1984 may contact James H. Bradley at 875-7854, to arrange to have them displayed. Troop 90 and other scout troops have been in existence since around 1911 or 1912.
Valentine’s Day Crafts
On Tuesday, Feb. 12, from 3:30-5:30 p.m., the Laurel Public Library will have a Make-It/Take-It Valentine’s Day Craft program. Children ages 6 and older are invited to stop by the Library anytime between 3:30 and 5:30 to make a Valentine’s Day decoration.

L.L.L. announces registration dates for 2002 season
The Laurel Little League has announced that it will be holding 2002 season sign-ups on February 12, from 6-8 p.m. Saturday registration will take place on the following dates and times: February 9, & 16 from 9 a.m. until noon. You must bring a copy of your birth certificate, and a late fee will be imposed after the final registration date. Players ages 5-18 (as of July 31) are eligible to register for a fee of $25 for one child, $35 for two, and $40 for three or more from the same household. The League is also accepting letters from managers and coaches for the upcoming season. Send letters of interest to Laurel Little League, P.O. Box 207, Laurel, DE, 19956.

Laurel Little League organization to form umpire’s association
The Laurel Little League is currently forming an Umpire’s Association to better serve the league. The efforts of the league to improve upon itself has not only been recognized locally, but in the Eastern Region as well. Umpires will be provided with uniforms, formal training, and opportunities to attend regional and national clinics. Anyone interested in umpiring in the league should attend the organizational meeting, scheduled for Friday, Feb. 15, 2002 at 6:30 p.m. at the Laurel Little League Complex, or contact Robert Trout at 875-4822.
